SRS experience

My SRS light came on and I am at 152k....I know they had a TSB to cover it under warranty until 150k...does anyone have any experience going above 150k where they refused to fix the SRS indicator?

go talk to the Service MANAGER at your local dealer
they can work to help you out
If any issue- remind them of the 5% fast odometers on these and many model of acura- so 2k over would be less than 150k actual miles
Its worked to get transmission coverage, and this is a special 10yr/150k miles extended warranty-not a tsb which is a bulletin for techs knowledge

ah...good to know...I never knew about the 5% thing with odometers...so just remind them that it's less than 152k in REAL miles because of the 5% accelerated logistics of the odometer?

(did I just overcomplicate that? =)

On my 01 CL it was the seatbelt. I suggest you reset the SRS, and see if putting on the seatbelt(s) brings it back on.

The process is here.
http://www.geocities.com/myintegra96/srs.html

connect two wires to the MES connector under the dash on the driver's side.

Follow the instructions, start the car if the light is off then attach the seatbelts one at a time. Mine was the driver's the seatbelts have a lifetime warranty.

I called the closest dealer verified they would honor the warranty if the seatbelt was the issue, I brought it in ate their cookies & drank their coffee while attached to their wifi on my laptop, in an hour it was done, no charge.

I have a 90 with 62k original miles. We bought it new 8/90. I loved it before I moved to Az. too hot here for a convertible 9+ months of the year.

so if the light is off, then the seatbelt goes in and it comes back on, then it's probably the seatbelt? good to know....my fingers are crossed!

the thing to do is reset by the provided method
IF you did any electrical work recently that causes the SRS, that will fix it
IF the light returns after clearing- you have a problem thats warranty covered

So far this and the P1457 code....everyone else I know has not had any...but I guess I'm lucky considering my other car is a constant DIY project....germans....I'm going to try that reset and hope it really is my seat belt...

did you do ANY electrical work on the car? unplugged any wire with battery connected?
that will throw a false srs code- thats why you try the reset first

If you havent done anything to the car- try the reset, but chances are high its one of the srs parts- its more than just the seatbelt- its 5 or 6 parts that one or 2 of fail, and its later in life so they made the special warranty 10/150
While that light in ON= you have NO airbags

note to all- if your driver side seatbelt (possibly passenger too) is very slow to retract
thats covered by the special warranty for SRS
You get a new seatbelt!! often takes 4 days for parts to arrive

good notice on that too...my pass side is kinda slow to retract...

as for electrical work, no I haven't done anything, but I know I must have a speaker wire loose somewhere cuz when i hit bumps sometimes the music cuts in and out like wires keep brushing up against each other. Also, I unplugged the battery to make the light go away and see if it comes back, but I did not electrical work on this car whatsoever..

you have to do the reset procedure given- iirc its more than just a battery disconnect
the DIY was linked in a post here
