Squeaky Brakes
Does/has anyone had a problem with the brakes squeaking or squealing when slowing down or stopping? It's not all the time but enough to be a real bite. I bought my 2000TL from Enterprise and it looks like new pads were put on shortly before the sale. I complained and they had a local shop inspect and test drive. They say they couldn't get them to squeak...A few weeks later, I had an Acura dealer take a look and they claimed to have taken everything completely apart and tested all. No problems according to them. No problems except the damn squeaking! Anyway they said I had stock pads and sometimes they can squeak. If they put on new pads, it would be the same thing that's on there now. Sounded lame to me but I had been there for longer than I expected already so I let it go. Later, I got a satisfaction card to fill out and it said to call the dealer's customer service guy if I wasn't going to give them straight A's. I told him what I was unhappy with and all he wanted to know was what year my TL was how many miles I had! I never heard back from him. How do I find out exactly when my car goes/went off warranty and what are my options?
Most likely you have cheap aftermarket pads - that is a number one source of squeaking in Japanese cars. Either replace with OEM, or good aftermarket (try TireRack). I used to service Enterprise cars back when I was a repair shop manager, and they always went for the cheapest stuff - brakes, filters, you name it. So I am not surprised...
