Squeaks and creaks
It seems like I'm the only one who hears it, but the driver's seat is squeaking sometimes. it happens when weight shifts in the seat: when i lean really hard or brake or turn. And then only sometimes, it might go a day w/o squeaking.
It's a low squeak, more like a creak. Sounds like a hinge, and it seems to come from where the backrest hits the lower part of the seat. It seems close to the console, like if you were sitting down and you reached a couple of inches below your right hip, that's where it would be.
I took it to Acura, but of course the sound would not cooperate and happen there.
The guy was really cool, and said aside from leaving it with them so they could drive it 'till it happened and then disassemble the seat, he instead gave me a spray can of some lithium lubricant for free. ("I'm not really into having customers fix their own cars, but hey - it might never happen when you bring it in so you might try this stuff. Of course, we'll look at it but it might take quite a while. You tell me...")
I told him thanks, and I have the stuff but can't see where to spray it. Ideas?
Oh, yeah - he said that this was unusual, and that only the '99 models had a TSB on this.

don't feel bad i have talked to a lot of people who had the same problem and what i heard is that there are a couple of metal flanges rubbing on each other which causes the squeak, i took mine in once already and now it seems like my whole seat is loose, i have to take it in again, it's pissing me off, and i have heard other squeaks too, like moonroof, somewhere by the navi screen, i don't know if i am paranoid or what!!
After more fiddling, it seemed as if the squeak was coming from the hinge b/t top and bottom cushions of seat.
Yea, I know about the TSB and the seatbelt deal, but that's not where the offending sound was seeming to be produced. FYI, my tech mgr told me that the TSBapplied only to 99s, and to hook him up w/ the cure on 00 and 01 model problem squeak if I found it.
Well, guess what? I fixed it! It WAS the hinge. Sprayed some lithium grease on it that my dealer gave me for free (can looks like WD-40, but says something like "Pro Honda Lithium Lubricant" and it's for himges, locks, etc.)
We'll see if it stays fixed...
Someone above posted about a sunroof squeak? Easy fix - wipe ArmorAll or similar stuff on the rubber weather seal that surrounds the sunroof. Mine had it too, but that fix (almost a month ago) is still holding.
Verdict: my TL is currently squeak/rattle-free!!!
Someone above said they're getting an IS300? Hmmm, be prepared for lots of cheap, hollow-sounding plastic on the inside, but the car is nice and also seems more solid than the TL. I drove it, almost bought it, but liked the TL more. To each his own...

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, where exactly is the hinge? Is it in plain view so it's easy to spot and spray from the side or did you have to get all under the seat, etc.?
Also, did that fix it?
Thanks...
Hinge is covered by a plastic bit and is where the backrest bottom pivots. FWIW, the creak is back.
Also, a new rattle has surfaced around the rear parcel shelf. Sounds like it's just under there. These are actually pretty minor, and no one else seems to hear them but they really annoy me.

I've been having rattles, creaks, etc. since the 2nd month I bough the car. I got use to it cuz I can't pin point some of them. When you come to realization that we have a $30K and some of this stuff should be expected if you're like me (drive the hell out of my baby) you kinda overlook it.

FWIW, we're not alone - 5-series Bimmers make noises, as do the new S-class Benzes. Possibly, because the car is so quiet to begin with, we really notice stuff like that. If ya want something 'tomb-like' in quietness, you gotta get a Lexus.

yeah my mom's old 95 Lexus ES300 didn't make any squeaks or creaks when I drove it. And this was after several years of use.

That's too bad the creak came back, but that is a good point that although we have nice cars, they are not the truly "top of line" luxury cars so some of the creaks, etc. should be expected.
Maybe I'm paying more attention since the car is more expensive, buy I don't recall hearing these rattles, etc. in my old car ('93 Accord)...
At any rate, it's not really urgent so I guess I'll wait til my 7,500 service and have them look at it then anyway....

Gomez is right, I think we hear this kinda stuff more as we buy more expensive cars. My 94 Legend was quiet until my parents gave it to me then it turned to shit. I bought my own Maxima and it was quiet then I started noticing noise and crap.

The drivers side squeaks maybe due to the fact that the middle console lid is rubbing against the lumbar lever. Try to insert a piece of tissue in between them. See if that fixes ur problem. It worked on my TL. Too bad it is not a permanent fix. 'm thinking about removing the lever, What do you think.
service department told me that they think it's the seat assembly making the noise and it would need replacement. this is after they "tried" but failed to fix it the first time (it's hard to fix what you haven't touched) and let the warranty run out.
after i tell them to fix their mistake, they refer me the acura care who really doesn't care, b/c my resoilution depends on how much money i've spent at the dealer.
interesting way to deal with your customers.
