Spring Installation @ Dealers?!

I went and asked for a quote at my local dealer (Riverside Acura) and they quoted me over $400 for installation on comptech springs.. i was just speechless. labor costs more than the springs?! Another thing, i asked how much for both springs and installation and the service guy quoted me like $750!!!

Anyone actually get their comptech springs installed at the dealer? I trust the dealer to do a good job but the price that they ask for is just too damn scary

I know the dealer will do a great job but for $750, I don't think so! Just take it to a performance shop and pay $100-$150.

Yep, they wanted $299 plus tax on competch springs and about $340 for install, plus $89 for alignment.

I opted to do the install my self and save the the $340. If you can change your own plugs then I'd get a friend of yours to help you install the springs. You can borrow the tools for autozone for free. It would help if you also had access to the DIY section on this forum ... I was lucky enough to print it b4 they disappeared.

The front took me about 1.5 hrs (b/c I had to redo the front driver's side) and the rear took me 4 hrs to do since I was doing this by my self.

Mine sits pretty even, dont even have the "rake" look and I have nothing in my trunk. They might have put the higher spring rated one on the passengers side but unforutanly there is no way for you to tell for sure.

That isn't too bad compared to what I've heard. A local speed shop in my town charges $700 for installation. At least your dealers will do installs...my local Acura dealer won't do any aftermarket installations of any type...I guess its a liability thing or something.

I paid $100 for the install, but apparently we're lucky in LA due to the huge number of import shops.

i believe that w/ the comptech springs, the drivers side is supposed to sit higher when the car is unoccupied, so that when the driver does sit in the car, the suspension is balanced, not lopsided.
