I have the spoiler. I think it adds a sportier look to the car. Had some nice compliments on it too. I have WDP w/parch.

I really like the spolier. I think it gives the car a much better look. It makes the car stand out a little more, but is not too big that it looks out of balance.

Personally I don't think the spoiler does much for the TLS, my .02.

Personally, the back end of the TL-s is a little bland, (mind you I like it a lot), but that spoiler makes the back end really look smart. BTW, you dont see to many of the spoilers on both the TL and TL-s.

Alot of the people here seem to like the wings west spoiler....I prefer the factory spoiler its on its way as we speak from Tim.

Look at both either would enhance your ride IMO.....

I would get it! It will only make your ride look more sportier. I had to argue with the sales guy to throw in a spoiler for me for free.

I was under the impression they looked the very same? Is this not true. Oh, I think you should get one.

The wings west spoiler runs flush with the trunk lid lip. Looks cleaner to some folks and has no led lights.

It's just a second style. Both look Kick A$$ on the Tl-S IMO.

This is a good question; one I've been debating myself. The car looks good both ways from what I've seen. Right now I'm leaning towards no spoiler, but still not definite. I feel your pain.

I first bought my 99TL without the spoiler and then it kept eating away at me that I needed one. Makes it look more sportier and also makes you slightly different from those 40+ year olds that are driving most of the TLs out there.

OEM Spoiler with the integrated LED Brake light is thew way to go.

Hey! Some of us "40+ year olds" like spoilers too! Besides making us look "more sportier" just like the younger folks, they keep our walkers from sliding off the trunk.

That is sooooooo funny!! Makes 40 sound like we've got one foot in the grave. How many times have we said "If I only knew back then what I know now." I'm still sayin' it...but not as often Wis

8Ball and Gabriele:

At forty-seven the things which really matter and the things which are really fun are the dreadful things that our parents really said mattered. Family and work and duty. Crap like that.

He would have thrown in spoilers, but they weren't that common in 1995. (Great comment on "walkers" 8Ball!!!) Enjoy the ride!

I sure don't feel old.

First "spoilered" car I had was a '74 Trans Am 455 SD. Actually it was more of a sharp lip than a spoiler. Had the "kit" type cladding, functional "shaker" hood scoop, all that jazz. Three-speed auto that chirped the tires when it hit THIRD! Spun 'em good when it hit second. What a fun car. Could get almost 15 mpg if driven easy. I rarely got 10. Sorry to stray off-topic.

Spoilers are a dime a dozen nowadays. Everything from Escorts to Grand Ams to damn near everything else on the street has the "more sportier" look. Even so, it still looks nice on the TL.

I like the WW lip spoiler personally. So I got mine ASAP. More pics are in my other post.

Does WW spoiler required drills?? The reason that I didn't go with factory spoiler is because I am worry about drill holes on the trunk lid.. I would have got the spoiler if it doesn't require drilling....

OK my 40+ friends, sorry about that earlier post for this topic, but you guys don't look a day over 25, so hard to tell! :-)

Maybe I should have said, be different than those 50+ year old TL Drivers, but I think I would get some slack for that too. HA!

Good to see that you are all still young at heart!

I am still a SPOILER BELIEVER!

I love this thread - I practically fell off my walker LOL on the way to my AARP meeting, tripping over my Metamucil container and the drool from my chin! I lost control of my my bladdr and bowels simultaneously, thank heavens for my Depends!

I do not like the spoiler, as it tries to be something it isn't (a race car). I like the sneaky Q-ship look, making me less visible to the LEA's as I continue to pursue my "Cogitas ergo Zoom" philosophy.

Sarcasm is awesome. You just have to have fun with it among friends.

I like your Depends take on this! HA!

No more need to find that elusive restroom, when it can all be done on the SPOT!

I HATE spoilers. My favorite line about them is from Car & Driver's long-term review of a Maxima SE. They called it "an automotive codpeice". I couldn't have possibly put it better.

Don't get one; They're ugly, and functionally useless. Save the money for better tires, or a few nice dinners with someone you love!

Question

To those with factory spoiler w/ brake light:

When it is installed, do they disable the window-mounted brake light or do you get both the spoiler AND the window lighting up? I like the factory look a little better than the WW, but will go with WW if you end up with two center brake lights by going with factory. That looks "tacked on" IMO.

Thanks for any help!

Acura does disable the rear window break light, so only the Spoiler Brake light is activated. I think if both went on at the same time, it would scare the hell out of the people behind you! HA!
They probably just re-routed the wire to the spoiler (as the spoiler installation instruction describes.) BTW I like the OEM spoiler too.

Different strokes for different folks. If you want to spoiler it; go for it! If not, then don't. Personally, I think the car looks awesome no matter what. I don't plan on modifying mine at all, except for some mud flaps if you call that modifying. Besides, my husband does that enough with his Harley, he's always adding something to it. Anyway, Happy motoring!!

I'd sure hate to run out and take a chance on accidentally "conditioning" my new leather seats.

btw, I've decided no spoiler. Just closed a great deal on my new collapsible walker. Fits nicely in (not on) the trunk. Even got tennis balls and no-slip grips thrown in for free.

I like Mr Hyde's WW lip spoiler. It looks really slick and you don't have to worry about wiring for the light in the spoiler; there isn't one. Nice flush fit too that really follows the cars original lines.

Mr Hyde, I couldn't find a picture or listing of that lip spoiler on Wings West's site. How did you find it. I'm just curious.

IMHO... get the spoiler. Of course it is your own personal taste that counts.

From what I've read the holes match up to the factory markings so it's not that bad. Most people attach the spoiler with the 3M tape that comes with it, then use the bolts for extra security. Maybe Mr. Hyde can enlighten us a little further.....

Sure no problem, actually the holes did NOT line up eaxctly. I explained the install in this post.
http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/Forum14/HTML/001334.html

Just scroll down for one of my replies. As far as what is needed for the install, I think you need the screws and the tape wont be enough in teh long run, you also need to use the tape or else the center section of the spoiler will rattle. So ue both and go slow

Go for it. I think adding a spoiler makes it look sportier.
