Spoiler or No Spoiler? Opinions wanted...

Ok, my car right now is just your base 2000 3.2 TL with a paintjob and 2002 taillights. I am ordering the OEM body kit monday and Im not sure weather or not to get a spoiler also. I kinda like the no spoiler look with the body kit but then I see it on other cars and I like that also. What in your opinion looks the best from an outside eye looking in perspective?

I like it, personally I hated how the rear look until I saw one with a spoiler. I had my dealer throw the spoiler in when I bought my 99 long time ago.

You have got to go with the spoiler. Not only because it looks good, but since you have the body kit, it will complete the look. I don't think I have ever seen a TL with the body kit and no spoiler - it would look like you forgot it.

I vote no OEM spoiler. Your car with the 2002 tails and kit will look so clean without it. Just my opinion.

I asked the same question as you long ago. Placing a spoiler is pretty much a permanent thing. I had originally planned to put a BMW M5 spoiler on my car, but ultimately decided against it.

The lines on the car are extremely beautiful and flowing--more so than on the upcoming '04 TL. On my car, they are even more so becauase of the raked look my Comptech springs give it. Click "My TL" in the .sig below to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

I liked the look of my TL-S without the body kit or the spoiler. Then I saw the body kit and fell in love. So I ordered it and put it on. The spoiler? It does exactly what it is. It spoils the looks. I think it looks decent at very best with the OEM spoiler.

NeuronBob:

That's a great look for the car. Subtle, and classy. The M5 spoiler will go great with that. I personally don't like the bigger spoilers on this car.

As for the pics in general, don't you have any better ones of the "before". It kinda reminds me of "before and after" pics of diet programs. The "after" pics always have the women with makeup and complimentary clothing on, to make them look better. The first photo looks too dark, and the second photo is perfect, with nice lighting and even the glint from your fresh waxing. Your lights are even on, making it look even better.

You should work in advertising. Lol

In my personal opinion, I think that it looks a little "sleeker"(if thats a word) without the spoiler. I am also a little undecided about drilling holes in the trunk for something that I might not like. Since the factory unpainted syle spoiler is only $130 I might go ahead and pick that up and sit on it until after I get my car back..

IMHO, the spoiler makes the boring back end look great. This is however a personal opinion.

I like the look of the sopiler too. But in a way the spoiler is a bit too low profile. If there is a drop + kit, I'd prefer the spoiler to be a bit higher, like on the A-spec. But no GT spoilers!

The first picture was taken at a different time of day, without flash, and I zoomed in too far, introducing distortion to the picture from my digicam. Those pics are 14 months old and it's probably time to update them anyway...

I guess I could sell diet pills for a living.

Here is my 2000 3.2 before the body kit:

Here is my 2000 3.2 after the body kit:

This kit looks awesome and the color match is perfect. IMHO the OEM kit looks much better without the trunk spoiler.

God, I love the way the OEM kit makes the car look like a completely different car. I cant wait to see my car after body kit and paint. Thanks for the pics

I hated the OEM spoiler. So I got the WW one. Looks a lot better IMO. The M5 spoiler looks too small.

I ordered the body kit for my car and going to put it on w/o the spoiler because I just think it looks more classy and clean that way. I vote for no spoiler. But it all depends on what look your trying to achieve with your car. Luxarious and Classy or, Luxarious and Sporty. I prefer classy. Personal I guess.

Im actually going for the classy/sportish look. I want to pull up next to a M3 and have to car look like its on the same status/level if you know what I mean. I just dont want a m3 taking my shine at the local strip or outside of the club

Well in that case go with the flush mount spoiler not the OEM one, u'll achieve that look with it. Try to find an A-Spec Spoiler, I think they look hoottt!

I think either way looks good. But if you're going to get a spoiler, I say go with aftermarket. Mugen or M5.

I agree with the above. I'm getting my kit put on, but no spoiler. If I do get one later on, it'll defin me the WW one.

BTW, lovely ride!

benzo555, nice ride, nice spoiler, I wish I got that spoiler instead of the one from the dealer. Oh well.
Debadge the ass and your ride will look so much nicer. Make people think it's the 'S'!
btw, where did you get the VW spoiler?

Mugen are discont. so good luck finding it. Just get WW, looks almost the same (except its a whole wing instead of 3 peices like the mugen) and you will have to debadge the 3.2TL to put Mugen on.

The mugen is nice and I'm sure you won't see everyone with them. But I'm a lover of the WW spoiler with OEM kit.

i like having a rear wing...i think it complets the look and it allowed me to have the complete rear windsheild tinted..sicne i didnt need the cutout for the thired brake light....also its helpful when i park..it makes it easier to see where your car ends
