Speedometr/Odometer/Cruise problems!!!

Hey guys. Recently purchased a 2003 3.2tl from ebay, there was a speedometer problem on this vehicle, but later i've notice that odometer and cruise control don't work as well.
i was told that this is may be a speed sensor failure.
i've looked for a speed sensor, but couldn't find one, it's not like on 1999 models.
Does anyone know were that sensor may be and if this a sensor problem on the first place.
Would be very appreciated to any helpful tips!!!

Take it to the dealership and see if they can diagnose the problem?

NOOOOO no need to pay dealer 150$ diagnosis--just to tell you what they THINK is the problem..then more to FIX IT,,thats crazy talk-- for now at least,,lets work the problem logically

start with a name brand parts store- they will ck for codes- free
it will reveal any speed sensor or other fault codes (codes are clues not diagnosis)

To find them, look at each wheel = inboard of the backing plate, behind the rotors
a toothed ring gives the sensor something to read, sensor located by it

other cruise problems- remove top plastic engine cover (4 bolts)
throttle cable attachment at TB has been known to break the outer retainer edge and allow cruise cable to slip out or jam!

but,,, with speedo prob too, I would look up how that system operates,
if trans driven/cable or wheel driven/ electronic

GURUS--whats the story on that???

Do the other electronics have problems?

Sometimes having faulty battery connections on the 2g TL can cause weird electrical problems...

Is there a check engine light on?? If a speed sensor was the issue, a CEL should be on. You have 2 speed sensors that are on the transmission, which wouldn't be terribly hard to change yourself. Start with checking on that first as that would be an easy fix. If a CEL isn't showing up, then is everything else working fine on the cluster? (temp, fuel, etc.)

Around $70 a piece without shipping. 28810-P7W-004 is the part number. Is the odometer display lighting up at least? Without the speed working the odometer won't be accounting for any mileage you're putting on, but the display should be lighting up still and showing a mileage. All that working?

yes, it is. Do you think i need to buy 2 sensors, or just one and see if this will fix the problem?

I would try one and switch one out and see if it fixes the problem. If not, switch it around and change it out with the other sensor and cross your fingers. Highly unlikely both would be bad. Number 15 is what you're looking for. It's a gamble to see if this is actually what is causing it but it's not terribly expensive to try.

WHEN you decide what parts to order:
use one of our sponsoring vendors = Dealers who cut us a break
they are all listed in the VENDOR thread at top of pages
make sure to mention acurazine!!

They may be able to offer advice like: when we have this prob the following parts are needed, or- no we have never had any need for those parts--your prob is more likely found in xyz

parts guys know what they sell,,some are retired techs too

what about the Odometer--is it showing? movement?

When you turn the key to ON, not start--just ON, does the CEL light up?
(making sure the warning system bulb is working)

CEL light is fine, it light up and go off when i start a car, i had a computer check and no codes. Just this-speedometer arrow don't move and odometer froze up. And cruise don't work.

Check fuses maybe? If you don't have power of course components won't work.
Someone have a wiring diagram for him?

the car does what exactly===when wheel speed sensors diconnected?

a brake specialty shop will have a different scanner that looks for sensor codes
but a regular one may show it

you have inspected all ground wires and cleaned connections...replaced small grounds from engine to frame?
main ground cable good- no discoloration- acid burn- blue crud issues on either batt cable?

looked at throttle cable connection under top plastic engine cover?,
the cable for cruise can break the outer retainer wall and slip off

When i had sensor disconnected i drove 20 secondes and CEL light came on than D4 start blinking and i believe it didn't shift gears.
all ground cables look fine but i'll check them again.

where is a fuse box for cruise-cluster assembly? If you mean left side dash than there is no burned fuses.
