mechanically = type S
cosmetically = a lot nicer IMO

it gives you 7 spoke alloy wheels, red accent lights on the spoiler, full oem body kit, body coloured door handles and front grill, perforated leather (blue and black), titanium finish inside, a-spec badging, personalized leather jacket...I think I got everything

A-Spec is a Type-S with extra goodies on board.

Exclusive rear spoiler with twin red accent lights.
Aero kit: front skirt, side and rear skirts.
Exclusive 7-spoke alloy wheels.
Blue or Black masked headlights.
Body colour front grille & door handles.
European side turn signal indicators.
A-Spec badge.
Available in Nighthawk Black Pearl & Aegean Blue Pearl.
Black leather interior with blue perforated leather inserts.
Blue perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Aluminum and perforated blue leather shift knob.
Titanium style door trim & centre console.
A-Spec floor mats.
Acura chrome side sill plates.

All that for about $2,000 Cdn. over the Type-S package.

2 grand is not bad considering that a body kit and spolier from the dealer will run you close to that in the U.S.

Oh yeah,

As stated by sc354 above, we also get a personalized leather - and numbered jacket (I'm "394 of 800") with the car. It has "Acura" embossed on the front left and "A-Spec" on the back just below the collar - all very low key.

Acura has only produced 800 of the A-Spec, hence the jacket numbering...

Don't forget the headlights.. The blue TL-S a-spec has the blue housing and the Black TL-S a-spec has the black headlight housing....

I called the Acura dealership in Canada, quoted me 367.00 per headlight, boy do they look sweet..

I can add one more thing...

The A-Spec is (was) only available in Canada.

Are they offering the third gen. car in A-Spec?

Most likely not. Perhaps towards the end of its model. A-spec for the second generation was sort of like a commemorative edition for the outgoing model, and to spark interest in the TL before the new model came (ie. sell the existing models).

Here are some photos of an A-Spec - they are not of my car, so I hope I am not offending anyone.

I got mine on April 4th, 2003. I have leased the car with 24k km/year and I'm so over my limit.

I will probably break 19000 km this week, and I've had the car for less then 8 months. Do the math, that's 28500 km per year.

So if it costs me .12/km at the end of the lease, that would be $2160 in over usage of km's. Whatever, as long as this car runs well at the end of the lease, I'm going to buy it out.

I love this car!!!

The only reason I wouldn't suggest doing that is because if you have problems with your car, you only have 800 people to discuss it with. Let's assume that only half the a-spec owners are on this forum, that would leave us with a forum of only 400 people. Chances are, we would never resolve issues with the cars, because the amount of feedback we would get from other a-spec owners would be very limited.

So for instance, if I'm experiencing rough idling, and hardly any other a-spec owners are, then he response I would get would be like 2 ppl, causing me to never know if this is a normal occurence. Seeing as the TL-S and A-Spec are mechanically the same, it allows me to consult with many other TL-S owners. I think we should keep it the way it is.

many of the a-spec owners including myself agree with your statement. I think that the TL-S rims are soooo much better then the 7 spoke (Honda Odyssey) rims.

BTW if anyone is selling a set of 4 TL-S rims, PM me.

thanks

I'm number 219. The A-Spec rims have a better turning radius than the 02 TLS. However, they do look like my wife's Odyssey wheels. Acura has to do a better job on these wheels.

Hey Jeff,

You should post some pics of the dash trim kit.
