spare key needed

Sorry all, I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer to this question. Can I get a duplicate key made anywhere or is there anything special about the key that I can only get an Acura one? I just need a spare for my wife.

The key has a transponder in it. You can get it from The Dealer or from Ebay. A regular key from a hardware store will not work. Look up key transponder for more info.

And be prepared for a little sticker shock. I got one regular key transponder and one valet key at my local dealer and the charge was -- drumroll please -- $70.07.

The transponder was one price, the coding was a separate price, and the valet key was its own item, too. They were all $20-25 each.

Thanks Acura.

I guess I should feel lucky that my Acura dealer included all 3 keys and 3 remotes.

I know you can buy the keyless remotes and code them yourself (I did it), but I haven't heard the same of keys. Besides, you still need to have them cut, no? Share the 4-1-1! I did see some key blanks on eBay ...

Thanks! I searched the Forum and found out how to code my remotes here (this site is AWESOME) but never thought to do the same for keys. I'll never doubt again. This is the best auto enthusiast site I've used (had a Jeep Wrangler Sahara for 9 years) ... really tops.
