Question Is the sound noticeable on a AEM CAI?

I would love to get one, but I have heard that it makes noise. Is this true? I know I do not want my car to sound like a GT or something. Our cars are luxury and I like the "luxury sound" if you know what I mean. Much feedback w/those who have CAI is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Yes it does make noise....if you punch it it pretty much screams depending on the angle of the pipe when installed. But if you are very concerned with noise then I wouldn't do it. I just put mine in this weekend and its louder than i thought, but I'm gonna keep it anyway...I'll try and record the sound next time i have a chance.

Thanks! Yes, I am concerned with sound cause otherwise, I would have gotten a sports car. Thanks for your input! Damn, I just hit my 100th post. Yippee...

Cool, we have to hook up. For performance shops, I am still looking or deciding. It also depends what kind of work you want done. I know for a fact that there are better performance shops located in the Va beach/Norfolk area. Hope this helps. Keep in touch,

IMO, it's too loud, and the sound is "artificial"..The intake in my Miata is deep, it sounds sooo much better(deep and throaty)...but i was dissatisfied with the intake sound in the TL..

Its only loud above 3500 or so RPMs. Short ram anyway, I'm sure CAI is the same sound.

I have an AEM on my 96 Accord, and the intake is definitely noticeable when you ive the car a healthy amount of throttle. So much so that I will NOT get one on my TL-S. The power gains are impressive on my Accord, and I am sure they more so on the TL-S, but I dont want those gains at that penalty. IMHO it cheapens and totally kills the luxury and elegance of the car. Any intake you get will do that unless its a simple drop in filter.

It is definately noticable, however it does not take away from the luxury sounds, you want to have a little noise to show the bimmer's, and benz's, that our cars have balls too. seriously it really is only noticable when the v-tec kicks in, or as said above when you slam the gas. keep in mind it may be luxury but you can still always tell it is a honda (with intake or not.)
