Something is squeaking (more like rubber chewing)

Woke up this morning and got on the road and there is this annoying squeak, it sound like it is coming from one of the wheels. It wasn't there yesterday, it just started this morning. It sound like rubber being chewed by something. When I go faster, the frequency of the chewing increases. I pulled over and examined my tires - nothing unusual there.

What could this be?

drove my car some more around the garage during lunch time. This time it did not squeak when driving forward, but when I drove it in reverse it sounded like I was driving on bubble wrap - popping sound. What the hell could this be?

is the car safe to drive like this? I stopped by the dealer but they could not help me today - too busy. They only got me an appointment next Thursday.

It could be a few things. The lower ball joint like somebody mention is a possibility, but mines has been broken for almost a year and it hasn't made any noises in a long time. You could check the ball joints visually. If the lower one is broken, you have to replace the knuckle, kind of sucks. It could also be your CV joints, you can also check this visually, there will be grease every were. the worst thing, could be a worn out bearing on the differential, that allows the drive shaft to have more play and break the seal which would make the rubber sound you are talking about, you can also check for this visually by checking is there is transmission fluid anywhere. If it is in fact the last thing I mention, please do not drive you car, towed to acura. Good luck

it's safe if it's just the ball joints

when the squeak stop which means it broke and has to replace

but won't harm in a short while

it doesn't cost them much to replace a new lower ball joint, the part is like 30 bucks and will be replaced under warrenty

I haven't spotted any leaks anywhere on the floor after the car is parked, I guess that's a good thing.

I can't wait for this lease to end. First 3 tranny replacements (on my 4th transmission now), now this crap.

The squeaking kind of quieted down for a few days but didn't go away. Popping bubblewrap sound didn't go away when driving in reverse. The squeaking came back really bad as I was driving to the dealership.

The verdict - I need a new transmission. #4 broke at 48+ K miles.

so my #5 tranny has been installed, picking up the car tonight.

At least this time I got to drive a real loaner - 2005 TL with navigation and XM radio.
