Someone Help!! Tranny????

i took an hour and 20 minute drive, waited an hour and then took the hour and 20 drive back. but on the way back i smelled a burning smell coming from my AC the when i slowed down the car jerked and the RPMs jumped (scared the shit out of me cause i had kids in the car) so i pulled into a gas station cause i was really low and checked my fluids (ATF and motor oil) and they seemed fine. so when i got home i smelled it again. but when i shut the car off a fan kicked on wich that never happened b4. its not over heating so i have no idea whats happening.

is my tranny gunna die? feedback pleeeez

lil update. i took a chanch and drove from the the poconos to brooklyn (1hr 30min ride)
on my way to the highway i was doing about 40-50 and i saw the my RPMs were really low. so i decided to put it in SS to see what gear i was in and it was in 5th. while im driving i see it go through the gears pretty quick.

i seen this thread had plenty of views but on comment yet.

my car is a 2000 and has just over 70,000miles but i think it went out of waranty in February. im gunna bring it to plaza automall tomorrow morning anyway and see what they say.

being in 5th at that speed isnt uncommon. mine would go in at low speeds too. Still getting the burning smell?

well finally i got a response lol. but no there wasnt no burning smell. ive been driving it and it does feel a lil unstable but still no light YET.
me friend knows alot about cars and he told me to never change the ATF cause it usually blows the tranny and im starting to believe him.
all i know is that my dealer is gunna screw me.

Yeah, and umm...your friend gave you quite poor advice. There's no harm to changing the fluid, ever, on a Honda unit. Just drain/fill...

7 years 100k. which ever comes first. All the 2nd gen trannies have that warranty "Except" a specific vin range of 2003 which is the standard warranty

Well you shouldnt smell any fluid from the vents. especially the tranny fluid. the jerking could have been caused by the ac compressor disengaging or engaging

Eww the dealers hmmm well if its not this they will tell you that, who can you trust these days, I just did a ATF change like 2 weeks ago with that machine, which I believe that is a flush and drain.

i think im just gunna go there tomorrow and talk to a rep. i really wanna wait till it accually dies but i dont know how long its gunna take. i dont wanna wait till im too far outta warranty. i went to the acura owners site and this it what it says>

Description 2000-03 TRANS WARRANTY EXT
Date 9/27/2002
Type Warranty Extension Campaign
Status Open

so im gunna ask how long i have till im out of warranty.

thanx for all the input!!!

The jerking sensation and the RPMs jumping was the same sensation my car gave me before the tranny went at about 81k. What would happen is the car would try ro shift and miss the gear and my rpms would shoot from 1-2k to about 5-6k and it would catch there. You'll know what I'm talking about if it actually happens to you. The D5 light will also start blinking. But basically the car misses the gear very badly.

Yeah I remember reading that up in the forums not to do a flush and drain but when I asked to have my tranny fluid changed and oil change and stuff he was just crusing along and then when he started adding fluid into that machine I just wasnt sure whether to be an ass to bother him to take out all that fluid out of the machine instead and do the other way of adding fluid so I was like whatever.....Is it really that bad? haha on the owners link page my warranty is opened too but the car has a salvage title so its rather odd...you have 100k or I believe 7years on that warranty...but what Ive read from others threads is sometimes if you go over by alittle they will still help you at times but if your car has a title then its time to go bang your head against the wall and fork out the dough.

update:

i went to my dealer this morning at about 7am just to talked to him. i told him what happened and he said if theres no light in the dash light up that its not gunna throw any codes. i told him that its driving fine right now and i dont wanna leave my car here all day and i get it back with them telling me theres no problem and charge me. he told me to just drive it till it acts up again cause im still covered till February

so...do any of u guys think its a good idea to try my best to kill this tranny? i dont wanna be past my warranty when it happens.

dont try any thing. You dont even know it was the tranny.
It pisses me off when some one says my car acted funny and every one says its your tranny with out even knowing.

It may be it may not be. You shouldnt have smelled any thing that would have been tranny related thru your vents. It could have been the AC compressor that wasnt unlocking and causing the car to stumble, it could have been many things. Just keep a eye on it for awhile and see if it does it again

true.....but when i smelled the buring smell i took the ATF dip stick and it smelled burnt. so i figured that was it. even outside my car had the smell.
to tell the truth my car does feel different, like not picking up speed quicker than usual. and kicking into gear a lil harder. i think when i got the ATF changed the guy put in the cheap shit! im gunna try another change.
