Some Newbie Q's

Hey guys, I have a couple of questions I was hoping you could answer. I have already tried searching to answer my questions but haven't had the best luck. I need some help.

1) Will lowering just the front of my car with H&R OE springs and the stock struts give my a bouncy ride or any ill effects?

2) Does anyone have some pics with 18inch rims with a +42 offset?

3) Does anyone have some pics without a drop and rims?

Thanks!

and search for Pics of TL-S and 1.8t. Thats my car with 18's +45 offset. no drop!
Don't go with +42 offset, you'll rub like crazy in the back. I had +42 but got them changed to a +45 and it's definitely a lot better.
Yes it would ride bouncy as hell! why would you want to do that? There is a reason why the front rides higher.

not sure of the answer.. but it's funny b/c a lot of cars ride higher in the front.... As for the springs... it's not a good idea to mix springs... so if you're going to do H&R OE in the front... do them in the rear too. Different springs have different rates, so you could be asking for trouble when you mix and match. Most spring kits also account for the front being higher... so when you install them you get a nice drop.

As for the pics... I have 18" rims, +45 lowered on H&R Sports... pics linked in signature.

Lowering just the front would also cause the Caster Angle to be just a hair off.

What is a caster angle and what does it do?

And just lowering the front would look a little silly (IMHO)...
Look at 'my gallery' under my icon--18's and +45 offset. I do have Comptech springs, though...

Caster Angle is the relative position of the ball joints of the upper being above the lower. Each front wheel has one upper and one lower.

If you were to draw a straight line between the two, the angle of that line in relation to being true verticle would tell you what that angle is and pos. or neg. Pos or neg. is determined if the upper ball joint is more forward to the front of the car than the lower (IH don't remember which is which though).

I learned a lot when I called tire rack. I just asked them about offsets and things like that. The people there are very educated, I would call them if you have any questions about offsets and what to get for the TL. Good learning experience.
