So I have a choice...

I can get 15% black tint with metallic in it, or I can get 5% black tint, but no metallic in it. The metallic tint will help to block out more sun and keep my leather protected better from fade, however it won't be as dark as the 5% tint and I believe you can still see into the car with 15% tint. I would prefer to not have people be able to see in, but I am also concerned with too much sun and UV getting in with no metallic. What would you do? Is 15% dark enough to so people can't see in?

I'd go for the lighter tint. 15% for me is already too dark. I was under the impression that Acuras already come equiped with "green" glass (like Lexus) that already blocks most of the UV rays. I'd go metallic just because they tend to last longer than non metallic, and lighter because at night you would not be able to parallel park as good nor would you be able to tell if a cop was tailing you on the freeway. BTW I dont think you can see in with 15% especially with a black interior. One other thing to consider is tint consistency. How dark are you going on the front 2 and/or windshield? If you are leaving those untouched...then by all means go with a lighter tint to help ease the contrast a bit.

It is difficult to see out at night with 5%, but even 15% is a stretch.

Yeah, I never thought about the green tint already being on there. I do have a black interior, but I still worry that you can see in. The metallic tint will last longer, but there is a 5 year warranty on the 5% non-metallic. I also plan to do all the windows the same percentage.

Then by all means go with the lighter tint. I'd even consider going up a notch to 20% since anything darker than 35% up front will be a cop magnet. Besides...even if my tints did have a 5 year warranty...I'd rather not go back to the shop to have it retinted. The more often you tint the back..the more damage you are doing to the radio/heater lines.

I was thinking about going with the 5%, but now I am thinking twice.

How long have you had it on? Any problems with the tint quality? Do you wish you got something lighter, like 15%?

Going bling bling doesnt come cheap. Imagine if you get a fixit ticket...then you'd have to be paying twice the amount for tints and you'd probably be going lighter afterwards anyways. Remember...you also have to look out for cops when you park your car too!

And, if you decide to go with the 5%, you "might" wind up not having much more use for the rearview auto-dimmer...

Not saying that you should go one way or the other...however, if it were up to me, I'd go with the 15%. 5% is a bit "ghettoish", for lack of a better term--IMHO, of course.

definitely get metallic... you don't want to have to re-tint it after the other stuff turns purple in a couple of years

Post metallic interferes with radar signals!

the metal in the tint reduces the ability of your radar detector from the rear to pick up the radar transmisssion signals. (interference) just a thought before you go metallic, also too dark a tint like lumar will do the same...kman

LLumar PT 28% mettalic blk. is what i have on mine and looks really nice. BTW, anything below 30% is consider illegal with the cops in most states. I don't know about the legal issues in Colorado. But if you don't care cops get on your azz everytime you drive your car. By all mean, go with 15%- 5%...

I went with the 15% metallic and am real happy, Ive had 5% in the past, and it is a ***** sometimes to roll windows down or even get out of your car to have to see what the hell's behind you. 15% is just dark enough to usually see a silloutte, also, get the vinyl strip on top in the back matrix area (jet black). This should be a good combo.

Even 15% can be hard to see out of at night, no?
