...and not feelin' very good right now. Do you guys think it was moded? I don't know much about the car... My only excuse is... I had a lot of stuff in my car (I'm in the middle of a move right now), AND my girlfriend was in it too... but she only weighs 104lbs (which is a disadvantage... for the race that is, for me it"s a big advantage )

do you have a tl-p (if u do what year) or a TL-S ?

if you have a 4sp TL-P dont be ashamed. if you have a TL-S, id throw myself off a bridge..


if u have a 5sp tl-p.. then i dunno, maybe the extra weight slowed you down.. you should be even (or maybe faster) with (than) it.. if it's not modded of course

It's possible the VW was modded. My friend has a Jetta 1.8t and even though he hasn't beaten me yet, the day is not far away. He already got chipped, which keeps him a car distance on my ass, and with his future mods coming, by next summer he'll be sure to blow my TL-S away! But by then I'll just have to sell the TL-S and get an M5. haha!!

based on dyno gains w/ headers 25whp-29whp you should be gaining close to 40bhp(at the crank) I know it a chickenshi_ way of figuring bhp but who wants to pull their engine to get a dyno. besides 300hp's a nice even #

Guys, the VR6 is no slow poke... 200HP with 195LB aint usually all that special, but the GTI weighs 800 lbs less than our tl's. That plus a 6-speed gearbox, i have no doubt it would keep up or pass a TL-S just fine.

Agreed, 800 pounds is a massive difference.

Besides, the Acura is a nicer car anyway it's not all HP that counts.

hell those little subaru turbo's weigh half of our cars and are quick as hell, but i wouldn't trade the acura for that! no comparison!

I had one before my TL, and turned 15.3's consistantly with just a K&N. It was a '98 and had a 5 speed stick. You were heavy, had a passenger and those 19's didn't help either. Also, the VW could have had nitrous or even a turbo as a lot of companys sell and install them for the VR6. But I sold my car cuz it was too small for my needs AND the fact that the VW dealer where I bought it was the absolute worst, raping customers any way he could.

Yeah... watch out for those Jetta VR6's. I had a guy in one of those keep up with me on my bike(99' Honda 900RR). from about 60 to 80 mph, until i realized that he was no ordinary jetta and proceeded to decimate him. but at the stop light i asked him what he had in his car, he said a chip and turbo kit. Other than being lowered the car looked stock. No giant exhaust, stickers, boost gauge in the pillars. He even took the stock wheels off the car and put those regular steel wheels on it with hubcaps, and to my knowledge the VR6 did'nt come with hubcaps. All of you in the NOVA, DC., and MD. area watch out for a green jetta VR6 with hubcaps and MD. plates.

Those huge wheels and certainly weight affect the performance. He may or may not have had a chip, and if he could drive to begin with, it might not have mattered...
They are very quick-not as quick as a TL-S, but very quick nevertheless...
Just smile knowing the electrical gremlins will get him one day!
