So, I finally got her back.

A few weeks ago my 02 got hit in a parking lot while I was in an Office Max store for school.... The insurance covered everything but the deductible, totaling nearly $1350.
I brought the car to the shop last Monday and got it back today, which I don't think is that bad being they are a fairly busy shop.

I have 2 questions though...First off, is something like this reported to Carfax? A Police report was filed and the insurance company paid for the damages...

Second, The body shop owner said to wait 2 weeks before I wax it...However I have heard everywhere from 5 days to 2 months...What do you guys think would be accurate?

I will upload before and afters in a little while.

Well when I got my bumper(s) repainted, I waited about a month the first time, about a week the second time, and then 3 weeks the third time. My car is fine and it is even shinier than it ever was, now!

Oh, thanks for the quick reply....I have a pretty big meet coming up so I want to have her looking perfect! I was planning on clay barring as well, so is that about the same?

Yea but clay barring is more for bringing the shine back to the car and making it look like glass.

I usually wax my car once a season and it looks really good.

You will be fine.

As for the clay bar, I meant the rest of the car, and then wax towards the end of the month...
Anybody know if it will be sent to Carfax reports as an accident?

Before:

After:
Dis-reguard the spot by the bumper clip, its just a spot in the pic.

All in all I am happy with the job done...There is one spot on the bumper where the paint is a little heavy and almost started to drip, its at the highest point of the wheel well on the bumper...But I guess its whatever. PPG paint was used, which is a very high quality, correct?

I just got my car fixed too and they told me to bring it back in 30 days for a wax.

So I'm guessing its around a month.

And a while back, Pat over in Wash & Wax told me his rule of thumb is at least 3-4 weeks for fresh paint before anything goes on it.

nice man. glad to see her all cleaned up. as for carfax, if you have any work done "over" the table, it will most likely be collected by carfax. carfax's sources include service/repair stations, as well as insurance companies, among other things. if no ins claim was made, and the repair facility was small/sketchy, it is possible for it to slip through and not get collected. carfax isn't perfect.
