So Cal Drivers w/o front license plate!
Beware!!
LAPD is cracking down on cars without front license plates! The crack down just started (today?) and they have ticketed 207 drivers in just one day today (6/5/01) according to Channel 7 news. So, watch out.
Apparently, cops have realized that they are missing out on the potential revenues from red light runners w/o front license plates. Even if the camera catches the red light runner, w/o the front license plates, they can not trace the drivers.

wtf i thought you didn't have to have a front license place in cali...i don't have my plates yet so no prob for me i guess. but a license plate will run the purty noise of our car....

Yikes! Maybe I should put my front plate back on. How much is the fine if they catch you, by the way?

i guess you don't have to put a front one on if the dmv only sends you one...

I've seen lots of guys had that tickets issued..but the police caught them for different violation and added missing license on to it....
LAPD giving u a ticket for just missing licence on the front??????
There are some cars that don't have a license holder on the front...(like corvette??)

When they pull you over for no licence plate in the front, they also nail you for your illegal tinted driver/passenger windows too!
But wait! I came up with a solution!!!
That happened to me so I put my license plate on my friends Acura (same year & color with no tint) and drove it to the police department and it passed!!! YEAH!!!

Damn, I hate the front license plate.
I wonder if they are going to do that up here as well.
But I've heard there is a way to get out of it. Just send the DMV an message that when you got your plates, you only got one. And you would like to request another one.
They are supposed to send you a letter stating that your car is ok with one plate until you recieve your second one.. you will not get your new one for a long time...

Since they are doing a crack down, a letter from DMV is not going to save you from being pulled over. The crack down is for everyone w/o their front license plates... w/ or w/o the DMV letter. You'll probably not get a ticket with the DMV letter but you'll spend some time explaining to the cop about the letter regardless. And that could be a hassle. 
As long as you have no plate in the front, there is always a possibility that you'll get pulled over just for that especially during this campaigne.

Last week, my friend in "da city" (SF) found a ticket under the windsheild wiper for having no front license plate when she parked her car on the street. So maybe it is also going on up in the Bay Area?
As long as you have no plate in the front, there is always a possibility that you'll get pulled over just for that especially during this campaigne.

Ya, I saw the news report too. That sucks!!
The good part is the plates aren't here yet....Front or back.
BTW- Fines can vary from county to county. 10 bucks seems very low to me for fix it ticket...

Thanks for the warning SLVR TL. I didn't see the news tonight. That will absolutely ruin the aerodynamics and look of our car.
