BDI, are you freakin' reading what I posted or is your brain mushed out from cabin fever? The BMW won't hit 130mph. With the setup that <B>Sleepy</B> has going 90 mph should be achievable in under 15 seconds. Stock numbers for the TL-P are: 15.2 sec. @ 93.1mph for the quarter mile.

And what i'm tryin' to say is that it takes much longer than 15 secs to hit 130.............Therefore you will never blow away a 330 in 15 secs.

 

I love how the people who never owned or driven a bmw can call it $hit. Im really happy that you guys can drive in a straight line, i really do. Also i have yet to see a 330 run 15s. Most are mid 14s (not mag racing) If i was mag racing then i can say low 14s.. but i have yet to see that.

I had a TLS with everymod basicly, I/H/E, sways, springs, tie bars blah blah.... and with all that $hit on it, the 330 STOCK can still handle better. There is no question about that, it just true.

Go to any bmw forums, you will be shocked on how many EX-acura owners there are. Im not putting down the TL cuz i do love the car, and its a great VALUE, but its just not fun to drive and shouldnt be compared to a car that is 10k more. IMO

PimpTypeS, i really dont think you should put down bmw or their owners, you already proved that you are extremely immature with your posts that you made. And really if you did beat that 330 then good for you.. now take it to a road course and see how well you do.

 

Cuz most races go for after 130? If you do go above that, then you shouldnt even be on the streets. Also dont forget, when the TLS is in 4th gear is like hitting a brick wall. The 330 still pulls HARD in 4th gear. So if you race a 330 on the highway and dont go above 130, then the 330 will pull on you.

O.K. I'll admit it... My TL-S is a car that can't get out of its own way. It handles like the late John Candy, can't stop if it wanted to and was being assisted by Drag Saftey Parachutes (not that it has them, being it takes 3 WHOLE WEEKS to get up to speed), Is as plush and comfortable as sitting in a Chevy Cavalier... no wait, I take that back, as sitting on a Saguaro cactus in the middle of the AZ desert. I wish I could get a BMW 330 (i, Ci, Xi, iS), the ultimate driving machine. But noooooooo.... I am so fuched. All I get to drive in is my crappy crappy crappy ACURA 3.2 TL-S.

I always find it funny when people bash BMW when 9/10 car makers want their sporting cars, image and buyers.

 

the 330I and the TL are in a completely different class. It's like comparing apples to oranges. The 330I outcorners the TL like mad. Why? Because the TL has a soft suspension for a reason: it's a luxury car. The BMW is a sports sedan..it gives better cornering for the price of being less smooth. I know would know since my parents have a 325I and i have a TL. Btw i can smoke my parents beemer in a straight line just because i have a lot more power than it. (225hp vs 186hp) But it outcorners me BADLY, and stops better too.

 

doodes... I dig my TL-S. It is a kick ass machine. The confidence the car has at 120+ mph I never had with my BMW. Under those speeds... well... I am in a more relaxed state and wish to be pampered.... If I could afford one in time and money.... The only other car worth considering for me would be an M3 (the new one). In florida, I don't need to outhandle anything 'cept gators crossin' the freeway.

 

stiletto, you've got it incredibly backwards. Anyone whose driven the two would know that the BMW is the more confident feeling of the two at those speeds (pretty much any speed). Apples for Apples, '03 BMW for '03 TL-S, there is no comparison in confidence or road feel.
Compare current model to current model, not an older body style. Enjoy your TL-S for what it's worth, but it won't be a bmw, ever. The TL-S is a great car; it's better than a lot of other autos, just not the BMW 330...
