small cracks in leather in steering wheel
The "leather" on the steering wheel is starting to show signs of aging. There are small cracks that have formed probably due to the heat and cold and sun beating down on it. Is there any solution to this? Any way to seal it or put some other protective coating on it to prevent this?
Thanks..
Thanks..

A good leather conditioner will do the trick. If you let it sit over night and then wipe it again with a towel, it's not as slippery.

leatherique is the best leather care product out there. It is not cheap but it will work wonders for dirty/worn leather. Im not sure why it works so well, but one of its ingredients is, i **** you not, whale sperm.

How about if the color of a black steering wheel looks worn... how do you make it look more black?? Is there a place that does it or a product that does the trick?? I tried the Mothers stuff and doesn't seem to do the trick.

I was on the phone with Exotic Wood Dash today, and the guy told me that.. they use restoration products that your dealer may sell for the wheel, when it looks worn out, and it will actually make it look more black or tan depending on what interior you got. Its pretty much like a touch up paint for your interior, can any one confirm this since I called but all the dealers are closed today?

I just bought my TL and it has cracks and cuts all over the steering wheel. I couldn't figure out why,
Then I figured out that my wedding ring cuts it.
It has an etched pattern that makes it kinda sharp!
Ha, ha.
Thats what I get for being married!!!

I learned the hard way from my previous car.
During winter, I slip into the driver's seat not thinking that my jacket zipper rubs against the leather of the wheel. Then I noticed some cuts and abrasions mostly on the bottom part (duh!).
So now I got used to tilting the wheel up before exiting the car.
