small bubbles in tint - is it normal?

small bubbles in tint - is it normal?

I had 35% tint done on my TLS 3 weeks ago. Today I noticed there are now small bubbles on the drivers side window that were not there before. The bubbles are small that you can only see them if your looking from like foot away. Is it normal for small minor bubbles to form, or should I have the tint shop redo the tint? What do you guys suggest?

Of course, take the car back and tell them to redo the tints.

Some shops will tell you that's normal. I think that's only because they do shoddy work. The tint on my TLS has not one bubble.

No bubbles on my tint. Take it back and make them redo.
I have 28% Llumar tint.

A few bubbles are normal for a few days at most. Any such bubbbles will/should smooth out in a couple of days. That is why you are not supposed to use the windows for three days.

But after three weeks to have new bubbles show up is NOT normal - take it back.

Yeah, i was working in the limo business up until a few days ago and we have our own in house tin guy and when he does the tint, it might have small bubbles, lines and a little haze for like 3 or 4 days, then they should all go away and the tint should smooth over. Take it back and don't let them tell you it's normal. If it happens again tell them to remove the tint and refund your money so that you can have it done somewhere else. I know people who have done this before because the problem kept rising up. You don't want to constantly leave your car at a tint shop for hours repeatedly do you?

I heard that removing tint from the back window might cause damage to the rear defrost and/or the atenna. I dunno if this is true or not. Anyone know of this?

Definately not normal. I had bubbles for about 4 or 5 days or so, but they disappeared after that. Now I'm bubble free!! If you still have bubbles after 3 weeks, bring it back.

As for the tint on the rear window, if you take it off properly you shouldn't have any problems (although I don't think it's easy to do).......

I have paid extra $ in other cars with tint as an insurance policy if they screw up the rear defroster. Tint companies don't typically guarantee the defroster will work after they take it off. I have tried to do it myself and wrecked the defroster where it was not working. It's even more important with our TL-S's because of the radio antennae. Have someone guarantee it by paying extra $, it is well worth it.

Thanks for your opinions. I am gonna have them redo the drivers side window and back window on the rear door (drivers' side). Those are the only two windows that have bubbles. Though one last question, will it be messy for them to take the tint off, is there any potential damage I need to consider?

I have been in the tint business 15 years and can tell you that there is a difference between bubbles and dirt. No new tint should have bubbles...meaning, no lifting of film from glass.... Jobs will sometimes have specks of dirt in spots were you handle the tint or sometimes in corners. It is nearly impossible not to have some dirt on older vehicles, but new cars should be almost perfect... as you may or may not know we use solutions to apply the film, while applying the liquid can actually suck dirt inbetween the film and glass so that is why it is next to impossible to be 100% perfect..... but again new cars should be near perfect... an expierienced tinter should be able to re tint your windows without any problems...
