Unhappy slow start!!

okay..ever since today...for some reason my car take a while longer to start. I even let it do the check engine first ..then start it.and it still does this. Not only on cold starts...mostly whenever. My car has roughly around 680 miles. Maybe I should get my dealer to do a PDI inspection? i don't think they really checked the car, when he opened up the PDI, nothing was checked.

Oh yeah..BTW...I changed the security light to blue now....hehehe...can we say...BRIGHT?!

Hey Jason, it's actually a LED. I did it at a local shop down here. Cost me $20 wit the Varad Blue LED. If you want, come over, and we can get it done. 10 minutes.

Dont have the hard start problem, so cant comment on that. As far as the door LED goes, I bought a new Blue Alarm LED off of Ebay and just used that. In order top change the factory one you need to remove the door, and unsolder the old red one off. Then resolder the new one on.

To make sure you are putting the LED in the right way, check to see which side is postive/negative by using a 9V battery. Hook each end up to an end and see if it lighst up. Note the way you removed the stock one and check that one as well. Then put the new one back in in the same way. If not you can do what I did and put the whole thing back together again and not have it work.

Also, "most" LEDs have a flat side, so you can determine which is negative.

Ray, how does the blue security light look in our parchment interior?

it takes like 2 minutes to take the door panel off. haha. Just those two screws and pull at the door carefully. and slip off, and unplug all the wires...and boom! there's that little led sitting there.

slow start

all cars have slow crank once in a while. Probably gas is not there yet.

Try this - when you start, first put the key into On position but don't crank yet, wait a second or two, then crank. This should give the fuel pump enough time to bring fuel to where it matters.

you mean redline? of course i hit vtec right after the break in.... that's what the car is meant to be. in general, on this break in thing, i will just stick to the manual. true that i think break in is needed, but i think just follow what the manual says (600 miles) would be more than enough. you want the car for fun, not for maintainance. i mean, what's the point of waiting for 1k miles? how about 1500? maybe 10k miles before you vtec or redline? i don't think that's really the best thing for the car. i would definitely start *using* the car after 600 miles

and btw, yes i vtec the car right after 600, and yes, i redline the car before it hit 700 miles

I tried looking at Fry's but didn't find any..

I might stop by HSC, I think I saw some there before.. super bright blue LEDs too..

But if you are really desperate, I bet some of those ricer shops or an Alarm place should have some..

What do you consider slow? How long is the crank time?
Do you have anything funky hanging on your keychain? Don't forget the car has to receive the signal from the key that its a legit owner trying to start it.

Don't worry about the slow start, the TL-S is known for it. There's nothing wrong with your engine; just hold the key in Start for an extra second.

doop, well, normally, when i hear my friend's TL start, it is much faster then mines. Mine just tend to be a tad bit longer. just a tad. The only thing I got on the keychain is the Acura Keychain that came in the booklet, keyless remote, my AutoLock key.

daverman, yeah, i remember hearing that the TL does this alot. But it's just annoying!

Just a shot in the dark... but do you have your low-beams (HID's) in the on position always...ie. when you turn of the car do you turn your HIDS's off or leam them on (to auto shutoff)

Just asking cause with the cold weather + the HID draw when you unlock the car (with the remote) or when opening the drivers door it might be taking too much juice from a cold battery !!!

This happened to me once when I left the lowbeams on. It had to crack twice to get it to start.

Just trying to help !
