Silver or Black I can't decide!

I am having the most difficult time deciding between the two colors: silver and black. just wanted to know what the rest of you guys think.
Silver: everybody and their mother seems to be driving a silver car, i think it's the most generic color out there. BUt the silver does look really slick with the matching silver rims, and i like the idea of the car not looking dirty all the time on a silver finish.
Black: it looks so classy and gorgeous but I have a feeling that i'm going to have to wash it constantly to keep it as nice as black should be. the black tl-s in the show room just sparkles, but out in the "real" world, black is just such a hard color to maintain, it gets dirty so easily and any dust on it just shows up just as easily.
so i just can't decide and i was wondering if you guys could help me out a little somewhat. thanks. i am so excited about getting a tl-s!

How often will you be washing your car?? And are you the type of guy who would spend 24 hours on washing a car just to make a car look good?? If your answer is YES to both, Black is your choice!!! You can't beat a nicely detailed, well-kept black car..
Silver is hard to beat, too!!!
But my personal favourite is Aegean Blue/Ebony...
but not available in Canada... ARG

Black is great when it is clean, but it looks pretty crappy when it's dirty.
HOWEVER, this can be used to your advantage. There are times (and places) where you may not want to draw attention to your car. If it is dirty, it blends in a bit. Then, when it's time for stylin', just wash it!

I know exactly what you guys mean. I had my black TLS for less than a week and I have to wipe the dirt off everyday. But I don't mind doing it, since I always wanted a black car. And it does look bad a$$ when it is nice and shiny!!

I have a silver now and I love it! But I am also a clean car nut as well and wash it every other week. Easy to keep clean. I've always wanted silver, my decision wasn't based on keeping it clean.
Black on the other hand will look nice for years to come. It also has a very luxurious feel to it.
I would seriously think about what wheater conditions you are in. I can't tell where you are from, but if you are in a harsher climate where it rains and snows all the time, black wouldn't be so good. Moderate to dry conditions would be ok. Also, are you parking it in a garage or outside?
But what it comes down to is not how easy it is to upkeep. I think if you are excited about your car as many of us are, you will keep it clean no matter what. What it is all about is what color do you want to have for the next few years and not get bored with.

I would definitely pick black (I am biased). Nothing beats a black color car in terms of sheer beauty when cleaned. Yeah it might be a pain to keep it clean but when it is.......DAMN!!!

My last car was a silver Accord. I thought that was bland. So I bought a black Integra. The car looks great for a day. But the next day it looks dirty. When I was living in the midwest the salt showed clearly during winter driving months. Now I live in the sunbelt, the interior gets super hot during spring and summer. My next car will definitely be silver.

I owned a black 1998 Maxima SE for 3 years. After year 1, fine scratches satrted to appear, it kept harder and harder to keep it clean.
Forget 5 mon ths of the winter when the minute its been washed, it looks like trash after being spashed by other cars on the street.
From experience, after owning a black car, I agree that it looks fantastic when clean. However, the efort in keeping it clean will eventually wear down your fascination of having a black car. JUST WAIT UNTIL THE FIRST SCRATCH. Damn that clear coat scratches easy! Your eyes wiill forever go to those marks. Eventually, you will bring it in to a body shop to buff the scratches out ... only temporarily until the next one and the next one and the next one ... appear.
Oh by the way, black for obvious reasons is not a good resell car.

The debate continues...
I thought I was set but I keep changing my mind. Do you know how it is? its really is very difficult to decide.
Is it true that black cars have a lower resell value?
as for getting the car dirty, i'm located in costa mesa, where the weather is usually pretty stable and sunny.
Those comments about the scratching really worry me though. decisions decisions...I guess i'm just going to have to decide for myself in the end, but thanks for commenting everyone.

No worries!
White Diamond Pearl is the obvious choice!
No offense to you silver and black owners, but the WDP certainly conveys the image of sophistication and class that other colors obviously lack.
Reality check: WDP is my choice only because it doesn't come in RED!!
Why Red? Because everyone knows you SHRED in RED!!!!!!

WDP is one of the best color for TLS. I was originally going for WDP, but on the other hand, I wanted Ebony interior, which is not possible in Canada. Aegean Blue/Ebony is another color combo I would love to have, but again, not available in Canada. So, Silver/Ebony is obviously my only choice...and I LOVE IT!!!

I HAD the same problem making a decision as everyone else, trying to choose between the Black and the Satin Silver; but ya gotta make a decision if you want the car. So, as of yesterday I now own a Satin Silver TL-S. Black has to many minuses if you do a plus/minus comparison.
ie . . . Black ALWAYS looks dirty again the day after you've cleaned it up. Black shows every small scratch and swirl. Black requires MUCH more upkeep in order to look reasonably good. Those where the key points in my decision.

I went with the Silver, although the shinny clean black one I saw on the lot looked like the way to go. During the test drive it began to drizzle, then cleared up. Neadless to say the spots really showed up on the black, but the silver one that I test drove still appeared clean. It is a matter of how much effort you want to put into keeping the finish spotless. For me the silver make the car look longer and sleeker.
Went to the dealer this morning to have the Mud Flaps put on to my new Satin Silver TL-S. The Black TL-S that was parked next to my new car on the dealers lot when I picked Satin Silver was still there. Both cars were perfectly clean when I picked out and purchased my car on Saturday. That clean Black car from Saturday was absolutely filthy this morning; Monday. My Satin Silver still looked pretty good; rest my case.
My signature displays the preferred choice.

BLACK!!!

Yes black car gets dirty faster but it's also because you as the owner are so self-conscious that it looks dirtier than it really is. To everyone else that look at your car your car still looks darn good. Unless of course you didn't wash it for a month!
Can silver look like this after a wash!?
My last four cars were black.

Black..
You pay too much for it not to take care of it.. Wash it every once in awhile.. As far as the low resale, I doubt it..

But to be fair I would like to see a picture of a clean polished silver to compare against.
I currently own a black GS-R which is currently for sale in order to make room for a TL-S. I am also torn right now between the black and silver. I love the black and the way it looks when its clean (especially right around sunset), but it really is a pain to keep clean. My other car is a silver Pathfinder. ALWAYS looks clean but definately doesnt stand out as much as the black car. Seems like I'm leaning a little toward the black for the TL-S but still havent decided...

Are you going to sit there and tell me that scratches on your silver tl-s won't bother you because people won't notice them as much as the black cars.

My last car, black '92 3000GT, even after about 10 years, I felt that car looked darn good each and every time I washed it.
