I just turned mine in this afternoon for replacement & signed the tramission petition #1137. This sucks, I'm riding around in a Lancer until they get their lender back in. I made it to about 50K

Count me in: tranny died at 42 000 km (about 30K). I guess I'll add my number later... Jo: 2002 TL-S delivered June 2001
Unfortunately I have'nt read all the posts, but am I wrong to say that the replacement trannies are no better than te failed ones?

new trans
i can't freakin believe it..
my transmission has been acting weird lately..
not upshifting..shifting like a rock...sling shotting into the next gear..
i take to NOT the dealer i purchased it from(i moved away)..
they tell me i needa new tranny.
=(
5500.00!.
he says, take back to the dealer you bought it from.
maybe they give GOOD WILL.
GOOD WILL!..damn.
i call him, and he says, let me call you back...
ugh.
does anyone have any suggestions on how i should handle this?..
i really like the car.
i would just like to get the new trans job.
but not pay for it.
car has 55,000 miles..
the tranny should last longer than that!.
very upset.

My tranny give up on me yesterday. 2002 TL-S 35,500 miles.
Dealer told me they will take 5 days to replace tranny as they need to order it from Acura. They got me a rental car during these time
Andy :-(

Hi all,
1258 and counting.....
Just bought a 2000 TL with 80km about two weeks ago.
Seller told me that he hadn't encontered any problems except
for paint chipping on the hood in 2002.
Ask the dealer once in possesion of the car for the repair history of the car.
Kind of another story.....
Brakes problems at 28km, 31km, 48km.
New Ball joint at 66km.
New transmission at 76km. (47K in the US)
New catalysor also at 76km.
New Short block & Head set at 79km.
By luck i did pay him to buy the extended warranty for a total of 7years/160,000km...
(I didn't buy it myself because it's giving me a better coverage and
a smaller deductible that way)
I hope i will be more lucky
At least it shouldn't cost me too much because of the warranty.
Pierre

Like I posted in the other thread...you guys should go talk to Austin (Austin 519) on Acura World .com. He's got a big thing going with this...he's my bro and I hope all the different forums get together on this.

I own an 02 TL-S with 120.000 kms most of which are hard driven the only problem I've noticed was the brakes so I took care of the problem by adding powerstop cross-drilled rotors WOW what a difference no brake fade whatsoever

now this has given me pause. i was about to plunk down a down payment on the nice '03 that i found. the fact that at least it is CPO'd helps but it sure makes me nervous. i didn't even bother to test drive it because i was planning to do that when i came back...

I'm 1377 on the list.
Here's my story...
We purchased a Certified Pre-owned 2002 TL Type/S less than two months ago. My sister has owned one since new and loves hers and after we borrowed theirs for a week my wife did too.
After buying the car was when I did a little research and found comments/post about transmission troubles. We had some wheels to be replaced because of previous damage so when at the dealer I asked, too late albeit, but was told the car was on its THIRD transmission. Feeling a little taken and only having a few days with the car I decided surely it was OK. We bought it at 28561 miles and by this time it had two transmissions replaced and the shift solenoid changed on the last one. Now, at 32435 miles it is going back for the fourth transmission. WTF@! The car was purchased 10/15/01 and will be two in two days. What are my options? I'm getting hammered by my wife because she no longer feels safe driving the car let alone carry our 4yr old son and our second on the way. Aren't dealers supposed to declare this type of problem without being asked? Does a lemon law carry over to new owners after the initial owner has settled or disposed of the lemon? And get this, like an idiot I signed an arbitration agreement. I just love that one. I am extremely humiliated and can't believe I decided to forgo my usual research and jumped into this vehicle eyes wide shut! If anyone has anything that can help I would certainly appreciate it.

Curious as to the date of the last transmission . I was involved in an accident when tranny locked up ,which was the SECOND transmission.. considering I bought my car 2003 BRAND NEW ..so I am curious as to WHEN the tranny's will be right ...!
My car is not back yet from the body shop ,it is still having body work from Sep,15th accident .... Then I assume they'll get to the transmission . Although I will never drive it agin ..it almost killed me twice in about a month and a half time span ..I will not let the third time get ME! There was also a baby involved in the accident luckily the baby was not injured ..this just brings back memories' TERRIBLE memorie's of this accident.
So any insiders' know WHY WE KEEP GETTING BAD TRANNY'S if they supposedly FIXED the problem and they are NEW?????
Sorry don't know anything about lemons' ...But I'd look into it for sure !

I called Acura customer service and opened a case with them. Not sure at this point what to expect but something needs to be done.
I'm going to contact the dealer sometime today and discuss this issue with them. Maybe I'll be fortunate and they'll offer to buyback the car. Yeah, that'll happen.
