Unhappy Sideways in the Type-S

So, I test drive the type-s hoping it will be stiff enough to perform like my Accord Coupe, so that I can sell my Accord and 2000 TL and just get a Type-S. Start out, feels similar, a little more sure steering, get on a twisty road, approach it like I would in the Accord, and rapidly see the shoulder approaching, the tail end coming around and the car screeching sideways thru the entire turn, never leaving the road, but certainly not the style of the Accord.

I guess the perforated leather absorbed most of the droppings.

While it's certainly stiffer than the TL-P, it was not as hard as I had hoped..

But it was fun, and off the line it was certainly more noticable.

I'm going to give it another try tho now wthat I know a bit more what to expect.

My destination is to have one fun performing hard turning car, and a Honda Valkyrie to go with it..

Later.

Springs and sways can solve some of those handling issues.

yeah, I thought about it.. but I was kinda hoping that it was all I hoped for just stock. I intend to get the extended warranty as I don't trust american union workers to build a quality car anymore, as would be expected in a real Honda. If I do any of these mods, I would assume I've blown the coverage.

It has to be proven that the mod you put on caused whatever failure there is. Otherwise, there shouldn't be a problem. And certainly springs and sways shouldn't cause a problem.

Comptech parts installed by an Acura dealer would have no effect on your warranty. I guess Comptech is to Acura as Mopar is to Dodge...

Tires would help a lot with the handling. These Michelins really disagree with being driven hard and will scream to let you know it. The back end on these TLSs is light which doesn't help. MotorWeek said the rear was skittish while doing straightline braking tests!! How did VSA react to your sideways situation??

the springs and sways will help w/handling but you'll find that replacing the tires will probably give you the biggest improvement.

Being in the direction I was heading, I wasn't looking at the dash to see how much VSA was blinking.. and it was very sunny so I couldn't see the light against the silver guages (which I don't like in the first place)

I'm assuming that it's compliance of just floating thru it that it was kicking in nicely. I never thought a front wheel drive would feel RWD, but it felt like the IROC or vette..

If the suspension changes will not void anything, that might help my decision.

My 2nd biggest decision is do I wait for the 6-speed as I love driving stick. But in either case I'll get an '02 type-s versus a late year 01.

Thanks for your input guys.

And another note.. when I mentioned my '00 TL was Laguna, his eyes perked up and he requested I bring it in for trade. Is there something rare/odd about that color I need to know about for leverage ?? he seemed VERY interested in obtaining it.

He might have a client that is looking for a used TL in that color. The reason I considered that color was actually because of the interior hue. The first time I saw one was in Savannah, GA and I thought it was an anthracite gray with gray leather. Anyway, that's all I can think of as to his hightened interest.

BTW, what ever happened to the pics you took in ATL?

Comptech sways make a huge difference in cornering, just put them on last week. Its one mod that should have done at the factory, can't image anyone not wanting them since there is no ride penalty.
