Should I switch it?

So my car I'm getting -- almost 42k miles... switch to Synthetic? Do the Mixture of Synthetic/Dino (forget what its called) or stick with ol' dino slush

I would definately change to Synthetic. Try something like Mobil 1.

And its ok to do so this late in the game? I thought I read somewhere that it's not good to do that on a higher (so to speak mileage) car....

It's not too late, I guess.... not sure how Japanese cars are... but on Euros, with some mileage on the car, when you switch to synthetic, you MAY experience a slight oil leak, which is suppose to be normal, and should go away after about 2 oil changes...
