Exclamation Should i do all at the same time

I have a 03 tl which i need to change my ball joints and my struts. Should i do all this at the same time and would it be cheaper?

My dealer quoted me a price of

377 to do ball joints
588 to do the struts

that is for parts and labor...is this a reasonable price??

I am in nyc so if anybody can offer a better price with a good mechanic please send di info

bless

Find a small import shop, you may find a better deal on prices. Also find out if that dealer price on the ball joints is for just the ball joint or if they are replacing the whole arm. (the later is what i would prefer)

Doing them both at the same time will definitely cheaper since they will have to remove the strut to do the balljoin. for balljoin and struts, you can check with private shops and the costs could be sufstantially lower. Normally, it costs about $50/per strut replacement without parts. Not sure on the balljoin labor costs.

as fsttyms said- a small import shop that does acuras as part of their normal business is your best place.
Or an alignment shop will do it and be able to align afterwards- saves time and markup by other shop taking it there

Look in the phone book under auto repair- see a small ad? check them out in person
Is the shop clean and organized- are the techs swearing,, or just working

Lots of aftermarket shock choices are available- better than stock- nicer ride- better cornering etc

Well I have KYB GR-2 Struts and when I had my car checked out by the dealer they said only my lower ball joints were bad so I just bought those.

Do you think I should replace the upper and replace the arm at one time??

And what arm is it

There is no need to replace the upper if it is not broken. May as well ask for the price too, if it is not too much to you, then may as well replace upper and lower all together.
