Shift Lock Help!!!!!!

My auto trans is stuck in park--had to use release button to shift. I also have no brake lights...checked ALL fuses but none blown. Could it be one of the relays??? Any help would be great since its about 40 miles to the dealer. Long way to go without brake lights

after you get it out of park can you turn the key to 0 position with shifter in neutral?

It's a 2000--and no the key won't go into the "o" position while in neutral.

Amazing how the techno-nannies are watching over us. Brake light switch out = basically can't drive the car unless you override the safety system.

But I guess it's a good thing.

i had this problem...i think it was the SRS fuse (passenger side in 03s) but you did say you checked all the fuses.

i also heard of the brake light prob, someone told me it was a sensor near the pedals..

goo dluck

Back in Feb it was a brake switch that went out and caused the problem.
