Shaking when braking

I have noticed that when I brake on the highway that the car seems to vibrate or shake. It is worst if I am braking down an off ramp. Coulr it be the brakes? I figure it can be a few things...rotors, pads, or springs could be cracked?? Anyone have any suggestions?

YEah i get the same thing (99 TL) if i apply the breaks to slow down from say 100mph to 50 the car wobbles like the rotors are warped until i let off a certain amount. my old 92 Vigor used to do the same thing, except much worse.

Warped Rotors?

Mine was doing the same thing. There is a TSB on it. I have a '00 with almost 30K and they resurfaced the rotors for me under warranty. Some posters here have even been given new rotors.
Give the dealer a call.

You've probably washed you car after a long drive or when the rotors were still very hot. From what you've described, your rotors are warped, go and have them turned and you should be fine.

The rotors have many holes drilled in them in a pattern so to maximize ventilation and cool the rotor quickly. Thats better for hard braking and maybe prevent rotor warping.

It has nothing to do with ABS...your rotors are warped. Acura used some real cheap rotors. I have them turned and they were fine for a while, but once again they are warped. Also has nothing to do with washing your car after you drive it. I have been doing a lot of highway driving up in the D.C. area with constant stopping and going and sudden stops. My rotors re-warped after about 5K miles. Total crap. Other than that, I like my Acura...

Dude, ABS has a totally different "feel" vs. warped rotors. ABS kicks in when you start to brake on uneven surface or wet surface. The feel you get from ABS is not from the steering wheel, but the pumping action from the brake pedal. ABS is design so that you can steer to a different direction to avoid any possible objects during a non dry surface. The feel of a warped rotor is like a bad wheel balance. Your steering wheel shakes when you apply your brakes during high speed or going down a hill.

Just remember, if your steering wheel shakes if you brake, your rotors are probably warped. And warped rotors are usually occured by washing your car while the brakes are still hot.

If you want to try the ABS, find a road that has uneven surface and go about 30 mph and slam the brakes. You will know what I'm talking about.

Hope this helps clearify a little.
