Shaking at high RPMs
Shaking at high RPMs
I hope this is not a sign of my tranny going bad but my car kind of shakes at the end of the first gear , it kind of shakes three times and then it workd properly , It only happen with the first gear and only before it is about to shift to second. I have never changed my sparkplugs and the car has about 75k miles . Could this be might be a misfire or something like that ?
So it's like a shudder? It could be early signs of an impending failure. I'd take it in to get it checked out just in case. Even if nothing is found, they'll have your concern on file for when you actually have a failure, it'll be easier to get a good will replacement.
because the 2nd and 3rd gear clutches are the weak point on the trans!!
Try this- at light throttle cruise 25 and 35 mph- (actual test speed does vary with year and type but in general and specifically for the 01TL )
at 25 in D5 stomp the gas and hold it down to the floor-
should do a positive downshift and launch forward in 2nd gear-
do same test at 35 and light throttle cruise-
if the revs come up but the speed doesnt- or it takes a few seconfs for the trans to find a gear and engage- those are symptoms
whats your year and miles- usa car? not salvage/rebuilt/scrap title on the car?
then what are you worried about?

you say high rpm- so I am guessing thats redlined in 1st gear and then it has a hard time catching second? what a surprise- dont rev these cars in 1st - there is no power at the high rpm- just gas flowing thru and noise- no torque~
What I am worried about is that my VIN is not included in the recall . Now let me tell you what happen today. Since I knew about the problems with the transmition , when I bought the car I got the sales manager to sign one of those we owe papers stating that the transmition had a warranty up to 75 k miles . Today I took the car to the dealer guess what the odometer reading was ? 75K exactly , I guess I got lucky . Hopefully I wont have a problem getting the transmition replace if that is actually the problem . So far I cant complaint the dealer gave me a sweet 2009 TSX as a loaner .
