For my 2000 tl-p/NAvi 97,600mi I was just quoted between 8-10K at the dealer. First they said 8k, then said they might be able to get 10k. After returning from the dealer tonight, I popped on to Edmunds and KBB, and I got $11K from Edmunds, and $9800 from KBB for trade-in values. I wanted to trade before the transmission warranty or my AcuraCare warranty end, but my payoff is nearly 16k!!! Holy negative equity batman, I thought these cars held their value. I paid 24k for it back in Feb of 2002 at 41K miles, just about the correct asking price according to edmunds and KBB. Now it's worth 1/3 that? Shiiiiiiiiit.

first of all...why sell it at all? Its not like your tranny will die at 100001 miles. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but most of the trannies have failed before the 100k warranty. Not all but the vast majority, so numbers are on your side that yours will last a while. Not like getting a different car will guarantee no problems either. I think the TL is worth keeping even if you have to pay for a new tranny. Cause you are going to lose money by selling it most of the time.

I just bought my TL-s two weeks ago. Its at 35k now but I've already made plans to sell it before 100k/7 years...whatever comes first. Not about to take a gamble and pay a few g's for the tranny after the warranty goes out. Good luck with the sale volcom.

It appears that the trannies are goinh at such a range of intervals. Mine just went @ 83K miles and plan on selling prior to 100K. For the price of the tranny fix, it is not worth it for me to risk it. Selling it and buying a new car will get a new car, with a new warranty.

Can you imagine haveing to pay for a new tranny yourself after 100k and having the tranny fail again in another year or so..... Think about some of the owners on this board that have gone through 5+ trannys. Would you want to deal with that kind of expense out of your own pocket??? I won't even consider it. My TL will be sold before the warranty runs out.

i think this delimma is at the back of the mind of many tl owners. selling it means no more worries but eating it on resale. keeping it is a gamble that the stats don't stack up. life is too short to have to be worrying about a ride.

my vote is to sell it and get something with a 5/6 sp stick.

Interesting. Mine has Navi, chrome factory wheels and the spoiler as well as having been ACura Certified. Those may have made up the difference. They were asking 24995, adn I just wanted 24K even, which was very close to the numbers given on teh internet sites.
