self installation

Does anybody have instructions on how to install an HKS exhaust? Since it's a bolt on exhaust it can't be that hard, but how do you take out the stock exhaust, because it looks likes it's welded on, or should I just take it to a shop to have it done?

Re: self installation

its very easy, just use WD-40 to loosen the bolts and bolt it right on. HKS comes with gaskets so just use those. did you get ur exhaust yet?

no not yet, just want to get some info before I go ahead and get it. Do the stock exhaust is only held on by a few bolts? Where are the bolts located? Do aftermarket exhausts hook up with the catalyic ?

there are 2 bolts on the end of each muffler where they connect to the Y pipe. installation is very simple. no they will not hook up with ur cat cuz they are just axle-back mufflers. if you were to get cat-back it would replace the cat and resonators...

Impact tools are not necessary. Just use some WD-40 to loosen those puppies up and then add elbow grease. You should get these off in no time.

and yes, you're paying for mufflers and may see 2-4 hp gains. nothing to get excited over.

badazzTL: one clarification, if you get CAT back exhaust, you're not necessarily replacing the cat. MOST (if not all) cat back systems START at the cat and go all the way back. you can however, get rid of your cat for a straight pipe.
