Seafoamed my engine this weekend

Forgot to write this up. Poured 1/2 can in the crankcase, 1 can in the gas tank and the other 1/2 can through one of the vacuum hoses.

There's a manufacturing plant near my house and the parking lot was opened so I figured it's just as good a place as any.

Let the car sit for 10-15 mins after injesting the Seafoam. When I started it up and gunned it a few times, holy hell there was an enormous cloud of white smoke. Now I know why they say to have proper ventilation.

Does the car run better? I dunno. Can't say it did anything, but it appeared to clean out a lot of gunk in the engine.

Oil change and plug change this weekend.

Is there a certain mileage they suggest doing this at? I will probably be cleaing my TB and all associated parts next weekend and contemplated the Seafoam but have heard it's for high mileage engines.

NSXNEXT when you say you put a can in the gas tank how much gas was in there and does that work as fuel system cleaner?

it does work as a fuel system cleaner.

I added 1 can to a full tank of gas.

I was not sure if that stuff worked but recently I got to see it first hand. My buddy has an 91 civic with 230,000 miles!!! Now this car still runs great but he failed smog because his car was releasing too much smog on idle. We ran seafoam though his engine and wow it smoked for like a few days but after that he tried again and passed! this stuff does work but yeah I would say do it maybe every 100k. Anymore might be overkill I would think.

Which vacuum hose did you use?

I have a can at home, and I'm debating if I should use it. I bought my TL used and I have 55K miles on it, I was told by someone that I shouldn't use Seafoam because the engine is still relatively "new" and that Seafoam is for high mileage engines.

For Peak Performance, Use SEA FOAM Every 2,000 to 5,000 Miles

that's as often as I change oil...

wow, that's crazy. 2-5k miles? And pouring into your TB? I don't know much about the internals of an engine so that surprised me. I'm gonna try it on my friends car before I attempt it on mine. He has a POS anyway, so it wouldn't really matter. I would need to find out which vacuum line to use though.

With engine warm, slowly pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint through carburetor or throttle body throat. (If vehicle is port injected slowly pour SEA FOAM through direct manifold vacuum line that will feed all cylinders, possible sources are P.C.V. valve or brake booster line.) This will pull SEA FOAM down on top of the pistons and to the back of the intake valves to dissolve carbon. Turn ignition off. Restart engine after 5 minutes. If severe carbon build up is apparent, use more Sea Foam as previously directed. Make sure exhaust is well ventilated when using Sea Foam in these various ways as fumes will be extreme for a short time.
Pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint into oil crank case to clean rings, lifters, dirty parts and remove moisture.
Pour 1/3 to 1 full pint into fuel tank to clean injectors, carburetor jets, fuel lines and remove moisture.
Immediate Results: Smoother idle, increased R.P.M.'s better throttle response and improved performance. See label on can for detailed results for use in each area.

couple question

1. it says pour in TB throat...how can i do that wit the cai? where should i pour it from the IM..or.....?

2. same with #2. just pour into the oil?
