Angry Say no to Crack!

I was driving the other day and notice a thud, but didnt know what the hell it was. Checked out the body of the car and everything seemed ok. Went to work yesterday morning and noticed a crack covering the tinted portion of the winshield, and saw a small chip.......by the time I got done work the crack was the size of about 2 dollar bills (probably from the heat and moisture).

It all started w/ this little fvcker!...

And soon turned into this!....

My insurance was pretty good about it and Safe Light is coming out to my work today to replace the winshield. They say it runs about $995, but I only pay the $250 deduct.

bloo that sucks dude. I have two tiny chips (not that bad) in my windshield from all those damn gravel trucks that drive down the I15. The chips are small, you cant really see them but you can feel them. Hopefully they wont spread and cause a crack! Cuz then i would have to give some shout outs

Exclamation Becareful!!!

I had safe light autoglass fix my windshield on my 97 altima....they did a terrible job....First of all when they took out the old windshield they cut some of the surrounding plastic on the inside. Then everytime it rained the focker leaked. It took safe light autoglass 2 weeks to comeout and fix it.

A grand to replace a windshield? I didn't think it was that much to get them replaced.

Damn those big trucks! I have several chips on my windshield. I always try to pass those trucks as fast as possible. My nightmare is that I will be pulled over for speeding and the excuse will be "Sorry officer but I was just trying to avoid chips on my glass and paint"

In florida...

Insurance Co.'s are required to fix broken windshields free of charge. Completely covered under insurance with no deductible.

Well the guy got it done in about an hour and the service was pretty good.....all the time he was working on the car he just kept complimenting me on how sharp it looked (even though it's dirty as hell) and how he was going to get one but then he had a kid on the way, so he bought a Navi instead......makes sense
Well, the sealing tape is still on the winshield and he said to keep the window open for a few hours tomm and then I can take the tape off. It has a lifetime gaurantee on it, so that's pretty cool.
I also have to send in a survey on his service.....he'll get all 10's just based on all the compliments

Thomas- no vin # etching, but they do that around here for free sometimes. My cousin had it done to his Accord. They do the winshield and both side windows.

Sound- Yes, $995.....that's what the guy quoted from the computer, so you know it's at least a couple 100 more at the dealer. He actually thought he wouldnt have any in stock b/c it is relatively new.

Crms- Please seek help.

Ps: Where's my fvcking gold earings and burrito??!!

I did the same thing -- pass those big trucks as fast as possible.
Well... but I still got 2 stone chips on the hood last week from a fvcking trailer that cut me off at the left lane @ 85+ MPH and swing his damn tail to the median which bring up all dirts, grass and stones. I really wanna kill that driver but... I287 just got too many motherfvckers on it.

I think that this must have been one of those tacky people that Tea Elle was referring to.
Now you know why he may have been venting...

Glad you came out of it OK!

That post was in no way intended to elicit a flame.

Thank God for the $0 deductible, 100% glass coverage on my policy here in MA. That even includes the rear window with the defroster and antenna embedded in it. Glass breaks are just an inconvenience, but not an expense.

There better be something extra when a windshield costs $1K
