Satin Silver Metallic trim pieces finally on

Many thanks to GregD and KostaP for the trim pieces.
These were all originally the burlwood trim pieces that I painted with paint from http://www.paintworldinc.com/

how the match of the paints? thats looks nice... are you going to get the rest of the pieces?

Paint matches perfectly. Not sure how much more I'm gonna do. I'm pretty happy with these pieces.

Man NSXNext....that looks:wow:

That's exactly what I want to do also. How much did that cost you to do? And how long did it take?

The paint, including clear coat ran about $30. One can of SSM paint and one can of clear.

It took me a few nights. Had to sand down the trim pieces with some fine sandpaper to make it bond. Pretty easy to do.

I would do it myself but I'm scared about breaking the trim pieces on the doors...don't you have to bread something in order to take them off?

Yup, it's not the easiest thing to do. And the worst part is Acura won't sell you the door pieces if you break them. You have to buy the entire door panel.

For large stuff you'd probably want to have a body shop paint it. Little stuff is easy to do with a spray can.

Go to THIS page and order a can of the following:

Color code: NH623M-A
Model: Acura TL
Year: ???

Order that and a can of the clear coat from the bottom of that page as well and you're done.

I just used some 800 grit paper to rough up the surface a little, giving the paint something to bond to.

The door panel pieces are held on by plastic rivets. You have to either melt or cut off the ends of them to get the door panel pieces off. Then you have to used sheet metal screws to hold them on.

See the round black things in the center of the door panel? Those are the rivets holding the wood trim pieces in.

Here's a pic of someone melting the rivets off with a soldering iron

Here's the entire process http://www.acura-tl.com/faq.htm#10c
