Safety Recall: V6 Engine Water Pump
Dear Acura Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
What is the reason for this notice?
Honda Motor Co., Ltd., has determined that a defect relating
to motorvehicle safety exists in the water pump in certain 2003 3.2TLs, 2003 3.2CLs, and 2002 MDXs. The timing belt
tensioner pulley is misaligned and may cause the timing belt to contact a bolt on the cylinder head. .Eventually, the belt could be damaged and fail. If the timing belt breaks, the engine will stall, which increases the risk of a crash.
What should you do?
Call any authorized Acura automobile dealer, and make an appointment to have your vehicle inspected. The dealer will inspect. the water pump, and if it is one of the defective pumps, the water pump and timing belt will be replaced free of charge. Please plan on leaving your vehicle all day to allow the dealer flexibility in scheduling.
Who to contact if you experience problems.
If you are not satisfied with the service you receive from your Acura dealer, you may write to:

Guys, this recall notice is not for ALL 2003 models. There are certain VIN numbers that need to have their timing belt and water pump fixed. So if you don't get anything in the mail, relax... your car is fine
