I was thinking of buying the 2002 TL Type-S taillights to replace the ones on my 99 TL. I seen couple of pictures with these on 99-2001 models. Does any one know if the new taillights uses the same bulbs and wiring as my 99 TL? It seems you can buy the taillights with wiring harnesses and bulbs and without......do you need this or can the old wiring and blubs go into the new taillights.

 

All 02 TL's have the same Tails lights. They fit no problem, you just have to get the wire harness for 40 bucs

 

I used the same wiring harness in my 99 TL for the Inspire (02+) tails.

 

So we can use the same wiring harness.........whats the point of getting the wiring harnesses and the bulbs then?

 

One of the plugs is too small to fit into the tail light so it'll be a little loose. I just used some sort of clay (feels like play-doh) to keep it in place.

 

you can rig it to stay, but just get the harness for a peace of mind and so you dont get any condesation in the lights. My friend has 03 cl tails without the harness and he is getting condestaion.

 

Get an aftermarket light from Ebay - direct fit, no harness needed, under $200.

aftermarket light? I have never seen a TL with aftermarket taillights (just oem '02+)......provide me with a link? I wanna take a look these.....I search ebay and couldn't find one for a TL

 

Oh and anyone know where I can get the Inspire taillights?

 

if my car is totaled i will be selling mine. they are in perfect shape and looks brand new. they are w/o wiring harness which arent really needed. if you are interested please pm me.

i should know by this week if im going to be selling them

They have them on Ebay @ $180 often.

 

Get the matrix ones, they fit perfectly and look awsome with out the necessity of a harness. I put them on my 2000 in about 40 minutes and they give your rear end a much cleaner look.-Nard
