Rust on disc

I just noticed areas on the disc (where the brake pads do not come in contact with the disc) have started rusting...Do you recommend any spray to remove this?

Thanks,

-tom

Your best bet is to sand the areas of the rotors that don't ever come into contact with your brake pads and paint them. While you are at it, you can paint the calipers to match as well. Should look nice, especially with rims.

I got this special paint from home depot that does not require that you sand off all the rust before painting. I just sanded off a bit of it, painted the rotors, let em' dry and they look beauuuutiful. I haven't seen a rusty rotor edge on my car in the last 8 months.

I painted my brake calipers with red caliper paint too.

Is there such a thing as caliper paint

I thought hi-temp paint would serve this purpose. What brand paint did you use?

Folia-Tec makes a paint on type of caliper paint. Around $40.

I used a Plastikote spray paint that actually says "Brake Caliper Paint" right on the can. Found it at Pep Boys. I think it comes in black, red, blue, yellow, maybe a couple other colors. Under $5.
One can easily did multiple coats on all my four calipers with more to spare.
