I couldn't believe my eyes, but when I opened the trunk and was looking eye level with the trunk lid, I could see surface rust!!! What the heck is that!! I know I live in Chgo, but I keep the car in the garage and I keep it pretty clean. The rust can't be seen when the trunk is closed, only when you raise the trunk and look at the thin section that closes against the bumper. If you TL is used in the snow-belt, check yours for rust and let me know. I don't think that's warrantied.

Interesting. I noticed that on mine. However it was at the right corner of the lid and it was really tiny (no more than 4mm wide.) I just sanded it, applied primer and a couple layers of touch-up paint. It's unusual to see that on a new car, but it's so minor that I wouldn't border about it.
