RSX Loaner...

Hey guys,
I just took my TL in today to get some work done and they gave an RSX to drive for two days!
NOT a Type-S
and an auto with SS.

I was excited at first but when I sorta gunned it pulling out unto a highway, I was a bit dissapointed. It didn't accelerate nearly as well as my bone-stock '99 TL. And I didn't feel the extra boost at high rev like I feel when my TL hits ~4K rpm. Maybe that new i-VTEC makes a smoother transition.
The steering feels pretty nice though. Much tighter than my TL.

... just sharing my joy, because they didn't give me a Saturn from enterprise like they usually do.

I had to take my wife's Pathfinder in to have them repaint the front bumper. She had a fender bender in March year and they put on a new bumper. Well the paint on the bumper is starting to crack so they are repainting it.

It's only supposed to take a couple of days so I didn't feel like yanking the baby seats out of her car to put in the loaner they were going to give me, so I let my wife drive my TL and I figured I'd take the rental for a couple of days.

Boy am I sorry! Enterprise comes to the shop and says sorry, but all we had on the lot was a minivan. I figured it would be a Chrysler, or Windstar.

Well, I'm cruisin around in a 2002 Chevy Astro!!!! It only has 2K miles on it, but it has more squeaks and rattles than you can imagine.

It's only been a day and a half, but I miss my car!!!

I'm either a really nice guy or a chump!

I hear ya, man! I got lucky this time, but they usually give me a stripped down Saturn or a Ford Escort from Enterprise. And the seats on those cars make my back hurt! At least you can intimidate people with smaller cars in an Astro. I don't know what I can do with an entry-level Ford Escort except get me from point A to B then take a hot shower to ease the pain in my lower back.

Yea, too bad! But a Type-S loaner will probably never happen.

I agree with you on the styling, and I expected a little more power, but other than that it feels pretty good. The engin is pretty smooth and the shift knob is really short. I really like the steering setup - I think it has much less power assist than my TL 'cause it feels much stiffer and the steering wheel is thicker and smaller in diameter (a sportier over-all feel). The white guages are pretty cool too, I'll have to see what they look like at night when I get off work later.
All in all, it's no TL, but it is a nice NEW Acura.
And it makes a damn nice loaner in my book.

Damn you were lucky. Park Ave doesnt have any RSX's yet. Last time i took my car in i got a ****ty Ford Contour! Good thing it was only for the afternoon. My car is going in tomorrow and they will have it for 2 days. I told Pete to hook me up with an Integra, i hope he remembers. lol

LOL, when I went to Park Ave I got a Contour loaner too. Really makes you appreciate your car after driving that piece of crap.

Yes, we all know no car is perfect, and despite having great cars with th TLs, sometimes, just for moment, we forget it, until we have to drive something else. Tha't's human nature, we all want something just a bit better....and the TL is a great car compared to many out there on the road....

With a simple change of the RSX's TYPE R bottom end for the 2.4L New CRV's, it should be easily pushing 300HP with no blower on it. Now, that's with 6 speed and an LSD. Combine that with highly tuned suspension, and you have yet another car to enjoy!
I forgot to mention that it comes with BREMBO brakes.

Check out the link for the pictures of the new RSX TYPE R.

Well, it's got 1100 miles on it, but I doubt that it was broken in the right way. I mean, what would you do with a new RSX if it was loaned to you for a few days? I probably took about 500 miles' worth of tread off the tires tonight.

And YES, it handles GREAT!! ...and feels good doing it too.

I also got a chance to drive it after dark and the red illuminated guages look really sharp. Might not be for everyone, but I think the red looks pretty good.

Now if they can only get my TL hooked up... correctly.
