Have a new strange noise that probably will be a dealer "cannot repeat" problem. Car is an '00 TL.

Usually only occurrs during the first start of the day after the car has been sitting for 2-3 days.

Crank the engine and upon turn-over hear rough cough-rattle type noise just above the steering wheel (just under the instrument cluster). Noise disappears instantaneously and car runs perfect after noise.

Any thoughts as to what it is?

i hear a "knock" when starting the car in the morning sometimes too...but just only when starting the car...

 

Sounds like it could be possibly an engine mount. If it is worn it could produce a noise when the engine turns over upon starting.
