Rough Idle -- Motor Mounts bad?
Hey all,
My wife's '03 TLS has ~68k on it. We had the 60k service done to it, and everything was ok. Recentlly, i've noticed that the idle is somewhat "rough" compared to before. Could it be that motor mounts are bad on it? (so quick?!)
I understand that these are not standard motor mounts, but are "vacuum" assisted mounts. Does anyone know how to test these things? I mean you can do the visual test and shake the motor test to see how much it moves. But how do you test if the mounts might have a vacuum leak of some sorts?
Any insighte would be appreciated.

I had the same problem but only when in drive, when it was in reverse it was smooth...it was a bad rear engine mount... i also had to replace the pass. side mount. it is a smooth now as it was when brand new

No offense, but that doesn't answer the question. How do *I* figure out how to do it. Or what is the procedure to test the vacuum lines?
If the answer was to bring it to the dealer everytime, there would be no point in having this forum.

You need to check alot of stuff. I dont have the manual infront of me but you need to test the solenoid, and mounts for vacuum running and not running

Most go bad from rubber wearing out. Ours????
and to add to to this thread, i highly doubt your rough idle is from worn mounts. Mine were really shot on my car (noticed 1 was about to fall apart when i pulled my engine out) and mine idled smooth as silk. something else is most likely causing the roughness

Wow, that's some crappy motor mounts. Gonna have to check that.
This car is not making me happy. The stupid driver's seat squeaks like no tomorrow. And I don't even drive it hardly. My wife does. It annoys the crap out of me when I'm driving it though, so since she's driving it all the time she probably realy hates it!
