Rough Idle during cold engine

I have a 99 TL with about 90k miles on it....everytime I start it up and drive down the block...stopping at a light, I can feel the idle is kinda low,,,and theres a little shaking. Not sure if its an idle issue or a air flow issue. Does anyone experience this? Any recommendations. I've heard people saying it could be the throttle body...but I don't think that could be the problem??
Thanks.

This is only one possibillity but it could be the coolant temp sensor.

same problem i have. its starts to shake when i idling in Park or Neutral. They need to re-tighten the valves. its a wear and tear issue, not covered by warranty. $345. i haven't done it yet cos it doesn't shake that bad. and trying to raise the idle will only mask the problem.

Mine idles rough at all times... Many times I can feel a noticable noise in my engine like a small thump that happens at random. I have replaced all spark plugs, run 91 gas, cleaned the intake and throttle body with carb/choke cleaner, have put in fuel injector cleaner also and octane boosters. Nothing has fixed the problem! (btw it still gets good gas mileage) strange???

A couple months ago the engine started to leak oil so I said Fock it and started putting in 87 octane gas and the cheapest 99 cent oil I could find. I honestly have no plans to fix it in the immediate future as I have other concerns besides a misfiring, oil leaking motor...

This may be my last acura...

yup. i had a fuel injection cleaning, but the "thump" is still there. they need to re-tighten the valves.

Well,,,the idle needle is in the normal range. Hmm coolant temp sensor? is that same as thermostat? I just changed my thermostat and that doesn't solve it. Do you think the extended warranty will cover this? thanks for all the messages..

I'm sure its not a valve issue..valves you can tell by a knocking noise when you accelerate, and reduced power. I still get regular gas mileage and power.. weird..

The coolant temp sensor and the thermostat aren't the same animal. The CTS is probably about the size of a spark plug and screwed into the side of the thermostat housing or somewhere close.

could also be the idle control valve, throttle position sensor, etc...

see if the computer is storing any codes.

$345? :wow: That's freaking expensive just to re-tighten the valves! Holy!
