Question Rough feeling

I washed my car waxed and polished it and it has this really rough feeling. It looks clean but just feels really rought. Any suggestions?

I would clay the car.

How old is your car? I have to clay the front of my hood every year or so. Its a pain though, I use the clay and lots of water but I get clay smudges all over that take forever to get off. Am I doing something wrong?

I believe when you apply clay, you are to spray a lubricant (supplied along with the clay bar), before application. Does it smudge in spite of the lubricant ? When I clayed my car, it came out feeling as smooth as glass.

If you waxed your car then the rough stuff is probably under the wax. What you do is remove the wax. Use the clay. Then rewax.

The Zaino clay bar recommends using soapy (Z-7 car wash) water as a lubricant.

You wash the car as clean as possible. then use it. Spray a lubricant, like soapy water that was suggested previously and then glide the clay bar over the paint. Make sure to use lots of lube. The clay picks up the junk thats on your car thats making it feel rough. Keep turning the clay around and mash it together an stuff to get a clean surface. When youre done, wash the car again. The car will feel SMOOTH when youre done. I was so surprised when I was done. My car was practically new, yet after its usage the car felt a whole lot better.

Ya, i'll definatly use really soapy water next time. Water just doesn't cut it. Should I use one of those fancy mcguires liquid synthetic waxes as soon as I get the car? My only issue is it might be too cold to do a nice job. I should delay buying it until its warm enough to wash it.
