How do you get updates for the nagivation system? Does Acura send you out a new DVD once a year? Do you have to pay for it?

 

You have to call some number and order it or order from your dealer. Unless you negotiated it when you bought the car, I doubt you can get it for free.

Is it worth getting the update right away? Anyone have any issues with the nav data it comes with? People in the NJ area?

 

Acura will sell you one when updated versions become available. But unless you plan to travel somewhere that isn't yet covered, save your money.

 

I would suggest getting an update every 2-3 years or so. Also before getting the update, check out the new areas that are covered. Getting every update would be overkill, I would presume, since the software is not going to be that radically modified, nor would the database contain that much more info than the previous disk.

I bought the new DVD since it had a huge update where I drive the most. It's seems to have a lot more data than the previous version, is a little quicker loading and has a few new features. It was a good upgrade for me, but worth $165?, I'm not sure.
