Rough Downshift into 2nd

Like the title says my car shifts hard into second from 3rd in MT mode. it kills my whole smoothness style. do i just need to put some tranny fluid in or do all tl s shift hard?

edit: yes even at lower rpms, like 3-4k in 3rd

Need year model miles to help you best, original, 2nd or 3rd trans replacement?

To check trans fluid level- drive 15 minutes to normal operating temp.
Stop, Shut OFF engine.
Open hood, remove trans dipstick - the one on the RIGHT-driver side as you look at the engine
Remove - wipe clean- replace fully- remove and read- should be between the lines
If its leaking there is a problem- use Honda fluid only

My 01 has a new trans in it and I dont notice roughness, just the need to be on the brakes
as I downshift so max braking and the trans come on together

its normal it is a decent drop from 3rd. if you wait till the car slows down just a little bit more it wont be as rough.
