The rotors are covered, but I do not beleive the pads are. I had the same problem last year and I had to buy new pads after they resurfaced my rotors. I am starting to have the same problem again, but they for damn sure better not think I am paying for another set of brake pads after only a years use!

they will replace the rotors and pads under a service bulletin. Problem is, the problem will just come back again and again. I have read up on this site that some people have had success at certain dealerships getting them replaced more than once. My dealer told me that they would replace the brakes and pads one time. That was when my car had 12k miles. At 24k the shaking started again, and i have been just living with it as it got progressively worse until i hit 39k and finally I said screw it. Tonight I just changed out the rotors and pads for Bremos and Streethawk pads i ordered through Tire Rack a week or so back. Total cost was $208. Frankly i just dont feel like arguing with the dealer about the damn brakes again. They are undersized (they are the same as used on the Accord) and just like all the creaks, rattles, and dead tranny at 32k miles, its just another reason I will never buy Acura again. Hopefully I will have better luck with the aftermarket stuff.

:::sigh::: you know Acura would be alot more sucessfull if they just took care of this ****. Maby its been a learning expierence for them and they took it upon themselves to get it right with '04 TL?

They replaced pads & resurfaced the rotor first time. But it happend again after about 12K miles. So I brought my car to the dealer again, and they replaced brand new pads with cross-drilled rotors. So far so good.

I'd like more info about these new rotors they put on. You said they are larger, which would mean they also had to upgrade your calipers to larger ones as well. Details....we need more Details so we know what we should be demanding at our local dealership!!!

Please give us more info on the new rotors. I have a 99 TL w 54k on it but it is still covered under the certified warrentee. My wheels is also shaking when breaking from about 40 to 20mph. under like 30mph it stops shaking. I am going to bring it to the dealer. Do I have to request these crossdrilled rotors or will they use them without request? do you know if the certified warrentee will cover this. Did you pay the dealer anything for the rotors..

Thanks a lot I called Park Ave Acura and they said that they were unaware of anything regarding new rotors, especially ventilated rotors. I am going to call your dealer and see what they can do. I think I might end up paying some $ though. The car is still under warrentee through acura certification, so I will see what happens.. thanks for all the help!!

OK, here is the deal. I called the dealer in Queens they were helpful. They said if the warrantee is good and that the rotors are warped then they should be able to replace them. If not if will cost around $550 for new rotors. I called the dealer I bought my car from, Ramsey Acura and they said that is a ware and tear part which is not really true. The pads I can understand but warped rotors seem to be a reoccurring problem with the TL from the posts that I have been reading. I am going to bring my paperwork to Paragon Acura and see what they will do. I am going to have a mechanic around me to look at the brakes and see if the rotors are indead the problem. Those new rotors look hot and I want them!! For free would be real nice. I am going to try everything I can. Will keep you posted, Also the guy at Ramsey said if it were a newer car then maybe they would fix it. But if it is under warrentee 15k or 45k shouldn't that all be the same. What's up with that. Some people have had there rotors replaced 2 and 3 times until they finally upgraded. They must have made better rotors for a reason right????????

its definitely the defective crappy rotors...like i said if you still have a warranty they will fix it no problem......i dont think they will charge you....paragon acura seems to be very helpful so far....fixed my sunroof with special tape because of squeaking, drivers seatbelt, and now the rotors.....not once have they given me any excuses or "GOODWILL" speeches....im glad i can help out

how can they be over 4" wider than stock and use the same calipers? They'd have to change out everything to make that work. I doubt Acura would make that the 'standard issue' fix for all. I dont even know if the Brembo oversize rotor kit has 16" rotors. Besides, 16" seems way oversized to even fit behind the rims?

I think you gotta pull off your wheel and measure the diameter and report back to us on this one....

Good call!!

Those will be fit on Non Type-S model because it comes with 16" rims.

I don't know too much about this issue, but I also did notice vibrations in the steering wheel when I pushed the brakes especially from higher speeds. I must admit that i drive my type s pretty aggressively, but fortunately when I brought her in for a oil change and 7500 mile maintenance I mentioned this to the dealer and they resurfaced the rotors and installed new upgraded pads. I don't know anything about this slotted or cross-drilled brakes that everyone is talking about? So are the dealers installing these new rotors for people? and also there isn't such a thing as 16 inch rotors right?
p.s. Do you guys know how the dealers are fixing the squecky seatbelt thing? It is really annoying me...

I called Rallye Acura and they have no clue about these NEW rotors...I told them about Paragon Acura replacing them and he told me they are going to run into warranty troubles and that they will be shut down if they continue...

All i want is my car to brake normally...time to escalate!

Yeah, thanks in advance for agreeing to take the time to measure the rotors. Its not that we dont beleive what your reading, its just that I dont beleive what the dealer put down on the repair tag.
I just changed my rotors 2 nights ago, so its fresh in my mind and there surely isnt enough room for a 16" rotor to work with the stock calipers. In fact, there wouldnt be enough clearance for a rotor that was even just an inch bigger because the rotor would never clear the caliper bracket that spans across the edge of the rotor and holds both the pads on. And as i said before, it wouldnt even fit on a TL-P since the rims are only 16", and i doubt they'd have a 'generic fix' for only the type S and not the standard TL, since the brakes are crappy on both of them (and they are probably both using the same size stock ones).
SOMETHING just doesnt add up here.

16" most likely refers to your wheel size. Because of the wheel and caliper, the rotor should be about 11.5-12" in diameter.

kevin cody...had called my dealer....did they tell you anything in detail about rotors??

invoice has said 16"/28t

Looks like songoku got the comptech rotors which are from powerstop. Did they also change your pads?

From the looks of this post I will probably have to replace rotors too. I had a 99 Civic and went through 2 sets of rotors. Each time at about 12k. My new TL-S will probably be the same. I guess I will go to the comptech rotors, pads and steel braided lines. Should I expect shorter sotpping distances with better pedal feel. Anyone with this setup, please post your opinions. Thanks
