Roof Racks?

Roof Racks?
So I think Im going to be taking up snowboarding as second hobby and want to get my own board soon but its really hard to fit them in our cars. So does anyone on here have any roof racks for them, if so how much did you get it for and where. Does it cause any problems such as scratches to your roof and how easy is it to remove from your roof?

I too need one for my bikes come summer. My bmx bike fits completely in the trunk if the rear seat is out.. but that's ricey.. also need one for the mountain bike.
I've looked at the Yakima rack systems.. you buy the standard base rails.. and then add accessories on that (bike supports, snowboard, carriers, etc.)

I think it looks great. Even if I didn't have a bike, I'd rock one.
My cousin has one on his accord. It wasn't too hard to install, we just followed the instructions. Check out the ones from Thule or Yakima.
I wish I could afford to have snowboarding as a hobby.

ive been collecting yakima roof rack parts for my tl all winter, expensive stuff for what it is.
i need one for my mountain bike.
craigslist, and ebay are alot cheaper than going to bike store's, or ordering from yakima.

Thule or Yakima make great stuff. I will never buy one for the roof for bikes though. I hate loading the bike over and onto the roof. I have a trailer hitch style bike rack.
Oh, and if you do get a roof rack for bikes, remember NOT to pull into your garage with the bike on top. Ive seen the consequences many times from others.

I've got a Thule that I was going to use on the Accord wagon I had. I've still got it...All you'd need is the footpads that protect your roof. And you might need to use the SRA (Short Roof Adapter) Not sure, you'd have to check Thule's website to see if our cars need it.

for those who snowboard and need an easy fix. just remove the rear seats.
i was able to fit 2 boards in there along with all my other gear for a weekend at snoqualamie resort.
a little loud at highway speed but the car did wonderful. and no need to worry about getting your boards jacked over night.

i have both a carport and 2 car garage.. and to fit a bike on top of a car in either i'd need a roll up door fit for a Flatbed truck lol
the ceilings would fit the bikes on there.. just not the doors themselves...

Just get the yakima or thule. They are the best in the market. I think I paid close to $500 for everything when I had it on my civic. Search craigslist, there are some real good deals on there. Go on the yakima website so that you can figure out all the parts you need before you search craigslist.

You just reminded me that I have a fully put together Thule roof rack with 2 bike carriers, cylinder locks, and a faring in my shed. I had it for my maxima so all it needs is a fit kit for the TL. I'll probably just get rid of it.

Good deals at performancebike.com and flea-bay. I vote Thule, but have only cycling-related experience.
I need a rack and am thinking the hitch is the way to go.

The fairing helps with the noise + mpg. The convenience factor outwieghes the MPG chnage, which I disagree about 'dropping like a rock'.
