To answer the question for any future person that wonders, yes they are supposed to light up. If thy dont pop the switch out and replace the bulb

only lights that don't light up is the mirror heater lights in that little cluster of buttons, so far as i remember.
NOT AN ASHTRAY should be lit inside any time external lighting is on, just like glovebox and center console.

I believe the 02-03 are the only ones that had not an ashtray that had lights. ( i know there isnt one in the 2000

My 01 exterior mirror heat switch lights up when ON

My 00 mirror heater switch also lights up red when on.

I never noticed but now that I think of it my sunroof button bulb is out too.

Ah well, I'll wait for something else in the dash to go wrong and fix them together.

according to our Guru- fsstyms1,
just pop the switch out from the front of the dash and replace the bulb behind it- no big deal.
I will be doing this too- always wondered why there was no light there! deededeee.
First person to the parts store report the bulb number!

One question, does the fog light button light up for the 02-03s? I know it lights up green when you press it, but right now, my foglight button doesnt light up.

It only lights when you pres it I believe. At least in my car, which is 02.
