Rims or Subs
Rims or Subs
Hey guys, I just a quick question for you. I have been recently contemplating on whether getting, preferably, 18" rims to replace my stock 16s. The stock rims are losing their clear coat and are lookn kinda beat up. Anyways, just yesterday a dude I work with offered me, not sure if it was one or a pair, of JL Audio W7 Subs. It might be just one, and he's selling them for $200 a piece. Now I have two options: I can get a great set of rims, preferably 18s OR I can get those, or the one W7 and get the stock rims refurbished or get new stock rims. And I have a another question actually. Would I have to get a new amp, because I don't think the stock Bose amp can push a W7, even if it's just one. Do any of you know what I should do if I go the route of subs over rims. If I get rims they will probably be Konig, Enkei, or Motegi. Please let me hear your thoughts!
Thanks, Gregg

Rims if you're getting springs too. If you don't plan on getting a drop when you get the new shoes put on your car will look
with stock suspension and big wheels - kinda like a Conestoga wagon from the old west...
then I say get the subs...

the amount of money you spend to get that sub running to a level that even sounds good isnt worth it. the stock HU sucks, you should replace that if your gonna get a sub of that level, ur gonna need a big ass amp, capacitor, wires, effort of install etc.
get wheels and a drop. you will enjoy that more then a JL on the stock stereo.

I don't know how old you are. If I could do it all over again..... I would spend the money on investment. Buy some bank stocks and let it sit whenever you have enough $$ for a set of rims/subs/stereo.
Some may argue 200 bux is nothing to invest but you always need the 1st penny for your savings!!

19s and a drop would be nice. make your car look nice before it sounds nice because u dont want to bump your subs loud and have ppl stare at ur car and noticed ur messed up rims. just like if you drove a ugly old car u dont wanna listen to ur music loud so that it attracts attention.

I'm gonna go against everyone I guess and say system lol...shop around and you can get a decent set up for cheap. I spent about $200 on my head unit and I got really good subs and a decent amp (2 12" Alpines and a Kenwood amp) for $125 from a buddy who had them before he upgraded...I'd def go system again before rims especially if your looking for a little boom and not anything competition like.
Don't get me wrong though, I would absolutely love some rims if I had enough saved up, but I wouldnt be looking forward buying new tires, dropping etc....and then worrying about scratching them up.
