What color car do you have?

Polished is the way to go instead of chrome now a days.

Get a polished lip with it.

Go for a silver or gunmetal wheel.

That is actually cheap.

Some people are playing 1200+ just for wheels no tires. Then they are paying another $400+ for tires.

Not really.

The wheels that I were looking at were about $200 each and those were only 17s.

Also remember you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap wheel then you are chancing them bending, warping, or cracking as soon as you hit a pothole.

The more you pay the strong of a wheel you are going to get.

That was what I was told last week when I was discussing wheels.

Some had bought cheap wheels for their previous wheel from tirerack and had problems with them. Now with his TL he bought a more expensive brand that is well-known and he said that he has hit a lot of potholes and they are strong and has had no problems with them what so ever.

Just save for a more expensive wheel so that you don't have to worry about issues like that.

and you are complaining about price try these http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...02&autoModClar=
these are $870 apiece and look very simuliar to the ones you want and i'm with TLin401 about you get what you pay for.
and the stronger the wheel the lighter it can be made so it will have less unsprung weight which equates to a better ride, also the stronger wheel will have less centrifugial weight to it which will allow you to accelerate faster

Also with the wheel being lighter, it will not throw the speedo off a little bit.

Just because something is made in China doesn't make it poor in quality. Many companies outsource their labor to China/India/Mexico, etc. because Americans ask for too much money for an easy ass job... reason why American Apparel clothing is expensive for what it is.

... getting back to the topic, look for rims with the JWL stamps on them, approved by the Japanese ministries.

Ray's makes the best rims in terms of quality, the Ray's Volk RE30's are based on the wheels they make for professional race cars. the forged rims are the strong ones.

If you want to avoid something made in China, you pay the price
